Wow, what a simple idea. I think I'll try it. Now we get to see if Joe can treadle with his feet, guide the material with his left hand and adjust the stitch length with his right hand .... all at the same time simultaneously. That might be fun to watch. LOL

When I dug out mom's old HOTHER and wanted to sew with it I didn't have a case for it. The original had fallen apart. The motor had also died and I didn't have another one either.
So I put it in my 66 Treadle #1 and went to sewing. Didn't even change hand wheels. I have lots of machines that can run on a treadle base, but I have a personality quirk. If a machine comes in case or a treadle, that machine will stay there. So to use one of the other machines I'll need to find a treadle with no head.
As for the putting the 319 in a treadle I suggested it to my wife and her response was: "NO!". Accompanied with a glare usually reserved for her boss. ( I think we'll table that idea.)

I like the idea of a 319 in a treadle or HC - seems like it would be easier to control when you want to go slow.

I treadle a 201 that doesn't have a spoke wheel. Purplefiend does too; from one of her posting of her 201 in treadle, I learned that it could be done.
I just might do that. The case to the SEWMOR was bad when I bought it but it literally fell apart during shipment. So right not it doesn't have a home. I've treadled my HOTHER on my 66#1 treadle and it worked just fine with the regular wheel. I would have had to shorten the belt a bit had I left it there.

Miriam,
To go slow you need a machine with a good strong motor and a responsive foot controller. My HOTHER is such a machine as is several others. I can feather the throttle on them and sew very slow.
I haven't mastered "slow" on a treadle yet. When I try the thing stalls on me.

Do you have any parts left from any of the machines? I'm looking for a rotary oscillator, a thread take-up lever assembly and feed dog screw for my 99K.
I could also use a motor and wiring assembly for it if you had any.
And I need a motor for a 66-18.

OK, that's enough mooching.

I took Rusty apart as far as I have because I had to get the rust out of all the joints and connections. One of those things that if I didn't have to, I wouldn't have.

Joe, I believe I have a 99 motor. I took it off my 99 to make it handcrank, as I couldn't find a knee controller at the time and wanted a handcrank in any case. Let me know if you are interested. Shipping + $15.00 I guess would be fair.

Joe,
Juki made your Sewmatic/Hother machine-which you already knew.
Although this isn't the exact machine like the one you own, I thought you would find this interesting for comparison:boulder.craigslist.org/for/2822808036.html

Nancy,

Glad to see that you played with your decorative stitches on your 401A. They are fun machines!
I have to ask. Which machine to you prefer, the 401 or 501 Rocketeer?

Nope, didn't see it. Which city?
