Elisabrat's Medallion Style Quilt Along!

ok now to find the iris and lion block your talking about.. everyone seems to know what that is. oh dear! how could I not know something so popular?? Its a bit brisk.. somewhere around 1 degree this morning but should warm up to the high 30's I hope. crossing fingers, toes, you name it I am crossing it. I think I might have to go out not sure. I have to ugly up a couple sweaters today for a Christmas party this weekend. I find this rather goofy myself at my age but guess one has to play the reindeer games. I am planning on making a trophy head of Rudolph (my hubby works in a gun store) with a gottem sign on the bottom of the plaque. that is so wrong but well the boys will get a laugh I guess. I really truly don't want to wear one. First off, call me old but I love those sweaters with the sequins and Christmas candy canes etc on them. I am a true dork. I spent oodles of money on those at one time. I guess I always have been on the outs and never new it. sigh..

This has been on my design wall for quite a while because I wasn't sure what to do with it. Would it work as the center of a medallion quilt? It is an odd size: 32 1/2 x 32 1/2. Will I need to add borders to make it a size that will work?
thanks for your help!

Well here are the fabrics I am planning to use...I am hoping I can get a little more of the flower fabric. I'll check next week when I am in town.
I have enjoyed seeing what others are planning to use for their centers. I found a couple on quilterscache.com that I like and can alter to make rectangles: http://quilterscache.com/I/IrisesandLionsBlock.html and http://www.quilterscache.com/D/DeweyBlockBlock.html

lovelyl, your center will work fine at 32 1/2 x 32 1/2". You will have a very large quilt but you don't have to add all the borders if you don't want to. Your UFO will be used!

So do I! Starting at 32 1/2" if you do all 6 rounds, your quilt would end up 92 1/2 x 92 1/2". You're close, very close..and you can always just add another border or some plain strip sashing between each round of borders.
