I used to keep a pressing mat on a snack table next to me while I'm sewing..then I got smart and lowered my ironing board and set it in back of me..I keep a cutting mat & rotary cutter on it also so I can press & trim..All I have to do is swivel around in my chair and it's all in front of me...The only problem is if I sit for too long I can't get up to readily...

Honchey, visual help on the Y seam will be needed. I thought maybe each of us could give a visual on how we put a block or two together...to show different correct way for visual learners...like I have become. or maybe because I love to 'see' it visually.

I've been using a mini iron made by Hobbico, I think, next to my sewing machine, as I like to IAIG, too. With my small blocks after pressing I slip them under my tailor's clapper to cool...makes them nice and flat...oops I just let one of my "secrets" slip out

Default Week 2

I wasn't sure I was going to get these done this early because I have people looking at my house because I'm selling, but I needed a few hours of fun in-between cleaning. These are perfect because they are small and can be cleaned up and pulled out easily. So here are my next two.

I press every seam. I have a small ironing board/table (made it on a tv tray so easy to move around and to store). I have a travel iron too which makes paper piecing so easy. I've had a couple different ones and like this one...for the price and size: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o04_s00

Well... I finished up Alice last night! I'll get a picture and post tomorrow, currently she's between pages of my book under my industrial bernina getting nice and flat. Does the tailor's clapper have weight and heft to it? I got started on Ann, but sewed the two triangle sections on the wrong side of "A" and it took me forever to figure out what I had done wrong, and rip them out, and resew, so I only got section A done. Hoping that the rest of it comes together much more easily since I know where I made the mistake now.

klgreene - your Alice looks like it's straight out of the book!

Nina - I love how you play with color!

Honchey - your blocks look pretty close to perfect to me!

Cooky & Granny - i love that you're both doing theme colors on every block. Very cool!

Jan - I'm a huge fan of batiks and can't wait to see more of your blocks.

katybob - there is something so sweet and feminine about yours. They are so pretty.

Jeanie - I love your bold use of red in your blocks this week.

Carriem - orange! so much fun, today happens to be national creamsicle day.

Gayle - I love your print fabrics especially on Ann this week.

Cheers everyone! I might actually get both of mine posted before the new thread goes up next week! Yay!!!!
