Anael--nice to get on and see some good updates. Your snuggles look so comfy.

    Jeanie--your BBs arrived...they are great!!

Just 2 more to get here...I have ideas starting to form on how to assemble. Good thing I've got my PC quilt going.

Anael good thoughts coming your way for a quiet night for the little ones. 2 weeks and counting this is such good news, every hour every day and every week is a true blessing.

QuiltE Road trains are a semi-trailer truck with 3 trailers and are what was in the picture I sent, they carry freight and livestock throughout the Territory as when I lived there the rail line stopped at Alice Springs so this was the only way to get goods into the Territory. The rail link has since been built from Alice Springs to Darwin. Caravans are probably what you call recreational vehicles they are a home on wheels towed by a car or 4WD vehicle.

JeanieG thanks for the link, I love Lone Star Blocks but the only patterns I have are for the large centrepiece ones so may have to try the smaller block. Can you please tell me what is a broiler. It is not a term I have heard before. The Oatmeal cake sounds delicious.

Will meet everyone in the RV for cake and birthday celebrations for Bram and Isa.

I am now going to try and make sense of my sewing room, it is such a mess.

Jeanie, thanks for the link-looks like interesting blocks. I'll try downloading Jan & Feb tonight. That oatmeal cake sounds yummy. Too bad the weight I gain isn't "virtual" like our RV. Thanks for your nice comments on my Quilts for Rosie quilt-that one was fun and pretty easy. The blocks and pieces seemed huge after FWS & PC. I like working with batiks altho that was a little challenging with those blocks; some of the smaller pieces got lost in the larger pieces. My favorite fabric in that quilt is the border fabric. It was one of those I didn't want to cut, just wanted to pet it LOL.

JanRN ... your border fabric certainly is pettable! Did you start with the border and coordinate the rest with it? Or made the blocks and then found the border fabric after? It is perfect! I think you should show us a picture of the infamous box ... opened! I'm sure that MrJanRN's hints were simply that you should go off on a FART!

MiraB ... yes it would have been the trains that you showed us before, except I thought one truck was hauling more than 3 trailers. Guess it was just the mass of many that made it appear so.

CarrieM ... hope you are having a good family weekend. More archery?

Anael ... Yes, Soda would be Baking Soda. Usually you can use 2 or 3 time Baking Powder instead of the Soda ... and skip the salt or cut back. Poor Lil Isa having troubles, because they hadn't cleaned out her tube. I started celebrating their 2nd birthday yesterday ... for some reason, I kept thinking it was Saturday. And today, has felt more like Sunday. Not quite sure why?

Here's some ingredient subs from Kraft's site.
    http://www.kraftcanada.com/en/cookin...utionlist.aspx

JeanieG ... Hurrah!!! your BBs have reached CarrieM! Your cake does look delicious ... does it end up being a heavier cake, more like a fruit loaf, or more like a traditional cake?? Of course, the cinnamon gets my attention. And then that "sweet" frosting. My oh My! Not I for the walker bag ... it was QNSue for her AIL. Thanks for the link for that BOM site. Of course, I NEED another project! Would be a nice way to try a Lone Star without being committed to a huge project and could be fun for smaller items.

QE--yes archery today. We had to leave by 6am for an hour and a half drive to be there for 2 of the 3 kids to shoot at 8am (have to be there at half hour early to check in). The kids shot well and we were back home by about 1. I have been dragging most of the day. We haven't done much but watch a couple movies. DH had lunch (spaghetti and garlic bread) ready when we got home so that was nice.

A cake sounds good. I cheated and bought sugar cookies today since I didn't feel up to baking.

No time in the clubhouse today, maybe tomorrow afternoon...

    Twasn't we!
DDamsel insisted that we (as in the Royal We, meaning me) sweep the floor as we left!
Sooooooooooo .... the question is, whom?

I had another full day. I spent th'smornin' lookin' for nautical fabrics. Yesterday DDIL & DS said that they had decided ta do the baby's room with a nautical theme. I know that DDIL has a bunch o' blankets left over from the first boy. (I know 'cause I made 'em.) but I wanted ta make this baby 6 that were his own. DDIL's baby shower was taday at 2:00 & I thought I'd git the fabric for the shower & then make 'em later. There isn't a fabric in Midland, w/a nautical theme, ta be found. I did stop at an estate sale while I was out but that only took about 10 min.s. (I bought some silk scarves & silk robes.) I finally bought some underwater fabric, enough for 1 WOF square blanket, & used it ta wrap some diapers. I then rushed ta the shower.

After the shower was over DH took me out ta eat, Mexican food. Then we bought a movie at Hastings & watched it. I thought I'd git caught up on here while the movie was goin', but Turtle (my cat) decided ta sit in my lap the whole time. He just got out o' my lap & has gone ta bed w/DH. Turtle still feels bad. He had a cat scratch abscess on his cheek & was in the hospital for 2 days.

I can't believe how fast this day went.

Yes Anael, soda is baking soda.

Mirabelle, a broiler is usually at the top of an electric oven. (Or it can be a separate part of a gas oven) You move the rack up as high as you can under the burner unit and turn the oven to broil. It gets the frosting mixture real hot and bubbly, then you take it out, but be careful not to burn it!

QuiltE, the cake is not heavy, but it is not light like an angel food cake. I like it because you don't have to get a mixer out, it turns out real nice just stirring the ingredients together. My aunt once told me to mix things with a pastry blender if you don't want to use a mixer, and I'll tell you, that works great!

Glad the BB got there Carrie! My son and his three little boys (age 7, 9 and 11) all shoot bow and arrows. The older boys were in a tournament in Sacramento a few weeks ago, and our son also shoots in tournaments.

I am trying to do this in a hurry cause I have to cook dinner, Roast Pork and all the trimmings. who wants to join me ...... dinner will be served in the RV in about an hour

No dinner for me mirabelle, it's breakfast time here!
Beautiful sewing cabinet OK! Nothing left from the old days here. I have no idea where it's gone, I guess it's sold or traded in for newer stuff.

No phonecalls last night so Bram and Isa are 2 weeks and 5 hours now!
I need to make more hats today, back to the sewing machine!
    Eat, quilt, sleep, repeat

Love Roast Pork, Mirabelle, and all the trimmings. How do you fix yours? Love the cake recipe, Jeanie. will have to try it soon. Never heard of a pastry blender when I was growing up...DGM used a Tablespoon. After we were married, I saw MIL using one, and questioned her about it....she thought I was really a beginner in the kitchen!!

Beautiful sewing cabinet, OksewGlad. I have my DG's treadle sewing machine; had given it to oldest daughter, but she was moving about so much, she gave it back to me. Someday I will get the cable replaced and sew with it again.

Wonderful news about the twins, Anael... love hearing all the good news. When dgs was born, they wrapped him all up in blankets until the poor guy could not move at all; guess that was the modern way, but me, I hated it.

    Everyone have a good day!!

OK--that is a nice sewing cabinet, hope the machine works well for you. I have my great grandma's treadle...singer in a pretty cabinet. It isn't locked up. We bought a belt for it, but have never put it on. I always say that if we ever lose power for an extended period of time at least I can keep sewing!

    Mirabelle--thanks for the pork roast...yum!

I could not get online and when I did I could not send anything....it was very frustrating to say the least....I have missed so much of the goings on here... first off I have finished the bbblocks and only have to sign them....I really bit off more than I could chew with them.....

There's so much going on I don't know where to start... I, too, feel like you Jan...It's like we've come to the end of the road and don't know which way to turn....sitting there waiting for something to pop up...What's going to pop up??? Well, right now I'm going to the last post I made and start from there...I will check in later...H.

Dublb---sorry you're not feeling well and Turtle too...at least you can relax together.

Honchey--great to hear from you! I am excited to see your BBs for real! I am sure the pictures didn't do them justice!!

I have laundry started and the kitchen mostly cleaned up. Off to work in the clubhouse for a little bit before archery practice. Archery goes through February, State is the first weekend in March and then we get a month off archery before practices for Nationals start.
