Hope you continue to talk to us even if you don't do the next project with us...you are 'part' of our family now. I may or may not join them in the next project, but I will add my two cents worth now and then.

Well I had a message typed with a reply to several of you, but don't have time to re-type it.

Great new MBs!!

Karen and Ggal have fun on your mini trips.

Kids helped this morning and made some good progress in the house. Now off to the clubhouse...we bought DD some cheater fabric for a dress (has smocking done on the top so you just sew up the back and then add a ribbon neck strap). She wants to get it done today so she can wear it Sunday. Then I will straighten up my batting shelf...

Well we signed on the house th'smornin' but the sellers don't sign till th'safternoon. Then the paperwork has ta go ta the mortgage company, then back ta the Title co. then we git the keys. Sigh, I'm still on hold.
Janie & MirabelleI just love your MB's. I keep goin' back & lookin' at 'em. I sure hope my MB gots ta who I sent it ta quickly.
I'm kinda extra excited about it.

Both freezers are ready for frozen corn and the kitchen is ready as well; so off to do some errands and pick up the corn...all 12 dozen ears for us. BF called this morning and is getting 24 dozen for her and her dd to do on Friday morning. Seller meet us at the Farmers Market and have the corn ready to go for us. Next Wednesday, she is going to Iowa City Hospital to see why her blood sugars are so high (317 to 420) and climbing on insulin. Her back (pressure points) are ready to kill her. Hope she lives long enough to do that next Wednesday (Praying for her) ...and that they will come up with an answer when her local doctors could not.

Oh that corn sounds wonderful! Do you blanche it before it goes in the freezer? We have several vegetable stands around here that sell great produce, and we can get strawberries almost year round. We have an abundance of strawberry fields, and now they are being taken over with raspberries. We also have a lot of avocado, orange and lemon orchards.

Sorry to hear about your friend, QNS. I'm sending good thoughts for you both.

I will get a group pic of my MB blocks shortly. Right now my pseudo design wall is covered in of all things.... my second Pony Club flimsy! When I figure out where to put all of them for a photo, I'll get 'er done.

Be good to yourself today, QNS. Worrying can take its toll.

JanRN and JanieW ... Oh such a beautiful and perfectly done MB ... Love the colours!!

JeanieG ... great thinking on that block ... has such a peaceful tropical feel to it. You have me drooling over your plentiful local fresh fruit. Though by the time it gets here, I have hard time accepting it as fresh!

CarrieM ... You'll have to tease DD that everything old is new again ... I remember having dresses from that sort of fabric in the 70s! We used to cut some off the length for the straps.

QNSue ... good luck to you and your friend. My goodness, you have a LOT of work ahead with all that corn. Here's hoping it stays nice and cool for you, as boiling all that corn will make enough heat and steam.

JanieW ... a temporary design wall could be a sheet tossed over a door, or the shower bar. However, I'm sure we can all deal with it and look at your last grouping and add in your new one in our minds!

Well, my bf got all her corn she wanted....24 dozen...for her and her daughter. Dd will work it up for her on Friday. We blanch the ears, cool them in cold water mixed with cold milk, either freeze the ears or cut if off the cob. Dh was not raised with lots of canning and freezing like I was and he does not cut it off the cob right, nor does he shuck the ear right, so I will work on my 10 dozen tomorrow while dh works outside. At least half will be frozen as ear corn and it is sooooo good in the winter time, although it takes up more freezer room. It is called "Incredible Sweetcorn" and it is...if he does not raise/sell any, we do without 'cause any thing else is a poor substitute. Then next Wednesday I will get more to work up. (Got 42 cents off per gallon a gas today for next fill up at local grocery chain and will get an additional 20 cents off per gallon on Sunday)

California freestone peaches are on the market here, .99 a pound, so I am getting a lug (20 lbs.,) on Sunday to work up and can. I boil water in my big spaghetti pan and use the insert with the holes to scald the fruit and peel them easily. Also works well with tomatoes.

OMG QNS, what a lot of work ahead for you! When I buy corn, I do not shuck it, but cook it in the microwave and the husks fall right off. Works so well, and tastes wonderful. Beats not having to get that huge pan out and heat up the kitchen too.
