New Quilting Bee, July 2017
#102
I bought a Quilt in a Day 4 1/2" Triangle square up ruler that allows me to make HST from 1/2" to 4". I can make 8 at a time and it is so easy and accurate. I love it and I can't imagine making all of these blocks without it. I joined in June and I have finished 2 June blocks and the bonus block. I made the January block and I have my February and July patterns and fabric on my cutting table. I only wish I had a maid to clean the house so I could spend more time quilting.

I looked up information on the web about this ruler and found June Tailor's tutorial on it. That was impressive and I can see why you like it so much. I should be getting one today and I can try and tackle some of those other blocks. Thanks for telling me about this tool.
It also costs around $20 AND UP. Watch for coupons and deals on them. I paid $16 for my last one. Also great for cutting binding strips, and shaping up finished blocks. This is the one I use modt often/daily. Wouldn't want to live without it! Janet

Here is a June block, Alaska. This one is just a hair short of being 10 1/2" square. Soooooo close, yet....oh well, things are improving with each block. The picture was taken at night, so it looks darker than the others.
Just Jan - the perfect square ruler is sweet!

better than mine from my 1st two blocks. LOL!
Your points are way

I finished my first block. It was not without its ups and downs. How does everyone keep all of those little pieces in order and the right direction. I sewed all of the 2 little triangles to the first solid square in the wrong order. I did not realize it until I had all 4 corner bits sewn together. Then it was out on my porch and rip out 8 seams - jeesh! A friend who is a quilter and who has been mentoring me said that you are a quilter when you start ripping out seams. Well folks, guess what - I am a quilter!
Once I got past all of the mistakes, it came together pretty nice. I think I actually have more points meeting than not - major improvement

Donna, it started out as only one block, but everyone finished them so fast, I posted another block (on page 7 or 8). Ok, went back and got the links for you...

It's growing, now on to the fourth block. I wish I had put green in the middle of the middle block too late now. Not sure I'm going to have enough of this fabric so being stingy with it. LOL
