I'm here QNS. Been lurking over the weekend and with so much going on, it's still hard to keep up.
Anael...so glad the weekend went without any hitches and that Mick felt needed. Lack of sleep adds up after awhile.
Mirabelle....so sorry about your pet. He was your company during those long times of bring along. How is DD's class going?
Jeanie...a wonderful block! Is the renovation coming along to your satisfaction?
Janie...baby dolls....that could be embarrassing to model when everyone else was fully clothed.
QuiltE....you get into some of the most interesting situations! Those quilt blocks are very challenging! I'll look for a cow in my paper piece book. I just might have one!
Carrie & OK....my kids were in 4-H too and they did their own work....I was just too busy with everything else to do more than coach them. It was a positive experience to be sure.
OK....sorry you got rained out. The weather station reports more rain today in Iowa...flooding even. Weather like that can take it's toll on everyone. Sure hinders the field work.
JanRN...what a mess with the new car. Aren't there clearance limits for wires so trucks don't do that? If Comcast was below the limits, you do have a case.
QNS....maybe you're just trying to get too much into your bedroom. Have you considered converting some of the living area into a sewing room? Since there is just the two of you it would be easy to adapt your space to what you do rather than what it might have been originally intended for. If DH has his own bedroom, you need your own space too without him expecting to make part of it his for his sewing. Move the sewing completely out of both of your bedrooms and have a more neutral area with adequate space around each work station for current projects and the necessary storage for the stash. Just a thought. OK is moving her sewing room into the dining room if I remember right.
Honchey....got the mail. Stay in touch during the busy summer you have planned. Enjoy your sister!
Putting borders in Easy Street so it can go to the quilter tomorrow. She just called that the Texas Star is quilted so I'll have that it put binding on. I would rather piece but it is a good feeling to get some things DONE!!!

GGal ... Great news, your Star finished and a Easy Street almost done! Yes, that fabric is a challenge, so I appreciate any ideas ... and of course, always welcome a new cow! :)

Question for Y'All ... What is the easiest batting to hand quilt?
I'm wanting to sandwich my small GFG and want to make sure I make the quilting as easy as possible, being that I will be working thru the backing, batting and then the seam allowances, which when folded around in the GFG, could amount to several layers.

Suggestions, please!
And THANK YOU!!!!!!! :D

Oh pretty blocks Anael! I'm so glad the home visit went well. How scary that the alarm kept going off, is that for Bram's oxygen? Prayers for Bram's Drs. visit today.

Gardnergal - The house is in limbo, waiting for an estimate from a contractor to put the drywall back in and paint the living room and kitchen/dining room. I have estimates for the cabinets, installation, countertop and carpet, which I have sent to the Claims Adjustor. The drywall/paint estimate was suppose to be to me this weekend, hope it gets here soon so I can forward it to the Adjustor. I think the waiting is the hardest. I am NOT a patient person, I want them to get this done NOW!!!!!

Anael 05-27-2013 10:58 AM

Jeanie, yes, it's for Bram's oxygen.
He doesn't need to have the procedure yet, there's still time for him to grow a bit. In about 2 or 3 months he might be off the oxygen, they want to wait for that. So........if all goes well they will go home tomorrow! ! ! I didn't hear from my DS yet, he wanted to let me know as soon as they find out when they can take the twins home. He thought it might be best for Bram to stay in the hospital tonight after today's long trip.

Anael 05-27-2013 11:12 AM

I just talked to my DS
The twins came home tonight ! ! ! ! ! ! !

OMG, OMG, I am just so happy for your family Anael!!! That is awesome! Now, how to figure out how to sleep with that alarm going off. I'm in tears, I am so happy for you and OUR Sew Grands!!!

Love the blocks, Anael, lovely to look at. Thanks for sharing. Wonderful news about the SEW GRANDS. Now Mom and Dad can step up to the plate full time... and forget about any sleep!!

Any progress is good news, JeanieG.

Sorry if I mislead you, GardenGal. The quilting/sewing room is not a bedroom but a one only for quilting work. We shared, but his table and big cabinet took up all the room in there, and he finally moved out last winter, taking all his stuff back to his room. Granted because of mistakes the builder made in his Cad program, Dh has a smaller bedroom..not as large as mine or the quilting room. I now have four machines in the sewing room...and clear access to each one...Bernina 1530, the new Bernina 550 QE, and Bernette Embroidery Machine,340, and the one that seams everything with 5 spools of thread on it....Serger. And the cutting table plus boxes of projects, etc. Shelves hold my stash, bolts of fabric, batting and backings. Which I am going through to see what is necessary and what I can put in the scrap box by stripping or squaring freeing up space...which does need to be done regardless.

He (dh) has thrown little 'hissy' fits yesterday and today about the matter putting a two year old to shame....because I said, "No, you cannot bring everything back into the quilting room; but I will try to give you some space for your projects."...meaning no sewing machine cabinets or cutting tables or big boxes back in. He has already said he will sell his sewing machines and use mine....well, ours I guess. totally forgetting that he told me to get the sewing room I wanted 'cause he was going for a big tiller next spring....with attachments for mowing, tilling, snow plowing, etc. So I suggested that I got to use his shop; that did not go over very well, 'cause dh says, "You cannot see right without the vision in your eye!" Poor excuse is better than none. Its in such a mess, I would really rather not go into his shop...he can never find what he is looking for....so I know I could not either. Life is never dull in this household. Dh keeps things in turmoil; never know what he finds to be unhappy about next. In retirement and our sunset years, I would rather he adjust his thinking and be more positive in his attitude. I can dream and hope for the best. LOL!! Laughter is the best medicine of all.

If water rises up our top of the hills here, its past time to build that ark!

(more wet eyes for the SewGrandmas!!!!!!)

THEY'RE HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG OMG OMG Anael
... HOW EXCITING!!!!!!!!!
I know this is only secondary ... Sylvia's two newbies are so nice and soft. And perfectly made! Did you see the new QB member from your country? http://www.quiltingboard.com/search....archid=6814402 Impressive work!!!

JeanieG ... I would be frustrated while waiting. And then the next wait for the Adjustor to "rule". Then the work can begin, and .........!!!!!!!! I'm sure you will be a good and fair "boss", but at the same time will keep on them, to get the work done, once it gets started. Meanwhile, are you living between your house and RV? That's no fun either!

QNSue ... hope these {{{{{HUGS}}}}} help you a wee bit!
