Good morning, ladies. Just getting all caught up. OK, I love your minis. I don't have a suggestion on quilting (I still suck at FMQ) but at that size I don't think they need a lot. Seems Anne may be joining you in mini-land. I'm not going to comment on your sewing space LOL. You are so talented and productive. I'm so anal that I have to have everything neatly folded and stacked or I get anxiety. You probably couldn't work in my space.

Jeanie, what a fun trip you have planned. I hope the weather is good and you have a great time.

Mirab, jealous of the bananas. Obviously we don't have banana trees around here and the prices have already started going up on the ones at the grocery store. We had a plum tree in our back yard when we first moved here and I loved making plum jelly. It made such a mess of the yard when they fell off--it drew so many yellow jackets we couldn't go out there. We took the tree down when my dog was stung so many times he almost died from the stings.

QNS I've heard of making grilled cheese sandwiches with an iron, but that's a new one!!

Carrie, I hope you're feeling better and sorry your friend couldn't make it. Have a great retreat and let us know what you make. Don't push the shoulder!! (Sorry, nurses have to nag LOL).

Went to a local quilt show yesterday. Very small, only about 60 quilts. A few did Judy Neimyer kits as entries. Lots of jelly roll quilts. Went by myself because my quilty friends are in Tennessee for Navy reunion. It was fun and a great day off work.

After getting chores done I'm heading to the Bat Cave to finish SYE #4. I love paper piecing flying geese--it's the only way mine don't look tipsy. Back to work full time again next week. Have a great week-end everyone. Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends.

Laughter is still the best medicine...we can laugh as long as its not our iron on the stove. Kids will leave this afternoon and things will seem very quiet again.

A friend is bringing me two more kittens to adopt. May keep them in my bathroom for a couple of days, so they get used to me before they see the big world out side and meet the other seven cats. Bf had car sickness yesterday as they came to my hometown and picked up their new freezer for their half of beef from our neighbor. so we alter our plans a bit for the cataract surgery. Had guinea and venison last night for supper; it will be steak and shrimp today for lunch. SIL will grill the steak 'cause he is our Grill Chef. DGS is up looking for his new 'cars' of the morning, so must go deliver...he is getting a tractor also 'cause he is visiting the 'farm'....

Bram has been admitted to hospital tonight at 8.30 pm. He was puking very very much so he hardly kept anything inside. My DS called the hospital when his puke was purple which is an odd color when you didn't give him anything purple to eat. He has lost quite some weight in the past 2 days. They're going to run all kind of tests to find out what's wrong with him.

Oh Anael, so sorry to hear about Bram's problems. That does not sound good at all, how scary! My prayers go out to him and your family.

This came in my mail today, just in time too, as I'll be gone most of next week. This is from Janie and is called X Marks the Spot!

Anael ... prayers and {{{hugs}}} for all. I;m so sad for you.

Happy Thanksgiving!

... looks like DublB and QNSue and families are right into the Canadian Thanksgiving spirit.
Many will do "homecomings" this weekend.
Many the last cottage trip.
The is the last weekend of our Fall Fairs. For many it's a tradition to go to the Fair, along with their family gatherings and dinners.
For some the last garden/flower work!
That was me this morning with a bushel of irises to plant. Yes, you read that right!
"Adopted" family dinner is tomorrow night and now I am prepping the onions for the family's traditional Creamed Onions, that they devour!

OKSGlad ... some more new mini lovelies! and a well organized and efficient work area for their production. Perennials are great aren't they? ... then all the WORK they create in needing to divide and separate. My irises today were from a friend's ancient farm flower bed that they dismantled before doing renos to the garage. Somehow I "inherited" them!

Honchey ... Of course, you just "had" to do it! I'll look forward to seeing minis coming up from you too. Must be time for another NC get away? Getting itchy for your BINGO?

JeanieG ... a busy time for you before you go, will mean for a more enjoyable and relaxing time while away. Here's to another grand get-away with your camping friends!

MiraB ... mmmmmm bananas!!! I like most anything banana, except cooked/hot ones. Like CarrieM, when I have extras they get tossed in the freezer for smoothies or baking later.

CarrieM ... do hope your friend improves quickly and will soon be flying northwards.

DDamsel ... Did you enjoy your banana paper? :)

JeanieG and JanieW ... Great addition to your MB family!

JanRN ... So, are you going to come and help me get my stash in order? Hope you had a good quilty day and have Spike #4 finished!

As mentioned, there's a few Fall Fairs this weekend. One being close to home and where we used to show our Jerseys. Can't take them any longer, so I took some Holsteins ... remember the Out to Pasture quilt? Of course, could not wait to go back last night and check things out! Yes, OTP got a 1st! Also, 1sts to Pony, Frosty, and my Spike #4 Topper and 3 others; plus two ends and one 3rd.

The weather has been amazing today, which made the iris planting quite enjoyable, though my back does not agree! Hoping that the weather stays good for tomorrow, as I will go with a friend to the Heavy Horse show. Then dash home to get my Creamed Onions out of the oven, and off to supper! Thank goodness for ovens that can come on and cook whil I'm away! (though I am always nervous ... what if I set it wrong and it does not come on? :))

Honchey 10-12-2013 02:51 PM

Anael, My heart goes out to you and your family...poor baby has been thru alot...

QuiltE, I love creamed onions...I would like the recipe...do you use the little pearl onions or just plain ole onions???

What a lovely photo of you GGal!!! Janie, & JeanieG...great MB Block.. Love the blue & the little stars....

QuiltE 10-12-2013 03:21 PM

Honchey ... plain ol' onions! :) I have them made now, and back in the frig. Just have to figure out how long to bake tomorrow.

Oh poor little Bram--sure hope MD's can help him along--sending prayers out.

More post garden work done. Carried a few rock to make dirt dams in the slope; seems to work well. I have sooo many flat limerock to work with. Now to work getting vegetable beds in shape for winter. Still picked a couple of tomaotes today--no frost here yet which is unusual.

Happy Thanksgiving QuiltE and Janie! Always a good excuse to count our many blessings.

Janie--nice addition to Jeanie's stash of blocks. You quilt's going to be lovely!

Another UFO finished! It's ready to take to my DSis's. Pieced the back with fabric from the front--helps to reduce stash! The blocks are 10" blocks (Sister's Choice) so quilt is a little over 52" square. Perfect for the sofa. For those of you who FMQ--how do you stop the uneven tension on the bottom--think I have to slow down when I'm curving. What kind of needle do you use? I used Aurifil in both top and bottom for this one. TIP OF THE DAY:
When hiding those quilting threads use a self threading needle. Bury the needle into the quilt leaving about an 1" sticking out. Slip the threads into the self threading eye and pull it through to bury. Then snip off the excess. Works especially well when your threads get cut a little too short. And here I was going to get rid of these needles that I bought long ago by mistake! Glad I didn't.

Anael prayers being said for Bram, hoping that the docs find out what is wrong and can fix it quickly..

Carriem I am a little strange as I don't like smoothies, the only way I like bananas is in cakes;)

What a beautiful photo of GGal, and such a gorgeous smile.

Another beautiful MB Jeanieg it looks great beside its friends.

Happy Thanksgiving Day QuiltE and JanieW, hope you have a wonderful day with family and friends, QuiltE you have me interested in creamed onions, I have never heard of them before.

JanRN I hope they can find a replacement for you shortly and you can resume your semi-retirement plans with lots of farts:D

I have been baking again this morning and made Banana and Walnut bread, so hop on over to the RV for morning tea.
