Just got them all pinned to the design wall, they are not in order except for the first 4 rows. I have made Dresden just need to hand applique it to the background fabric, may do that today

thimblebug6000 07-29-2014 04:30 PM

mirabelle, that looks fantastic! I'm thinking you must be making more than the weekly assigned blocks to have so many done?

mirabelle 07-29-2014 04:50 PM

Yes I am making a few more each month, this is one quilt I have always wanted to make so I am really enjoying the process.

Anael 07-30-2014 02:31 AM

Ohhhh Mirabelle, that's gorgeous!!!!! You're counting down already :) :)

giquilt 07-30-2014 03:21 AM

Wow, Mirabelle, it looks fantastic! This must make you enthused to do more. Will try laying out when I get home, maybe it is the spark I need too.

laurafet 07-30-2014 04:09 AM

Mirabelle, it looks phenomenal! Will you use sashing? It looks great just like that.

Karen G 07-30-2014 04:42 AM

What a beauty!

Anael 07-30-2014 06:37 AM

Laurafet, the rows on the left are sewn together with sashing and yellow cornerstones :)

Carsey 07-30-2014 07:43 AM

Mirabelle and AlvaStitcher:

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

laurafet 07-30-2014 11:52 AM

I see the sashing now- did not see it on my IPad this morning. It is just beautiful!

mirabelle 07-30-2014 02:23 PM

Thank you everyone, made 4 more blocks yesterday but have to put it away now, at least for a few weeks while I catch up with other "stuff":(

Wk. 8 catchin up. Finished up the Lancaster Rose last week. First time I've appliqued by machine. :) Discovered after loading, the new quilt I plan to quilt on the Tin Lizzie requires me to get an extension table & at least one long arm ruler to help me w/the straight line quilting (which there is a lot of on this particular quilt). Back to working on these for a few days til the deliveries show up on the doorstep.

Mirabelle - gorgeous locks so far...

laurafet 08-01-2014 04:18 AM

Wk. 9 - just couldn't resist the turtle fabric in my scrap bin since the block name is Childrens Delight

Anael 08-01-2014 12:16 PM

Oh that turtle is so cute :) Love your Star block, it came out very well!

thimblebug6000 08-02-2014 06:27 AM

HELP with M-1: Spinning Hourglass

I'm trying to put this block together and can't figure out what I've done wrong. The light blue triangles are too large to fit up with the pieces from the templates. Step 4 of my instructions has you cut 2 squares at 3 ½" and half diagonally to get your 4 triangles. Is that correct? Has anyone made this block yet? Thanks for any help you can give me. I'll post a picture soon.

I've checked the C & T Errata page & it's not on it. :( I think the templates printed out correctly as it looks like the dark corner triangles will fit properly.... Good grief.... any suggestions?

Anael 08-03-2014 10:53 AM

Thimblebug, you might have an old book. Step 4 in my book has you cut 2 squares"at 3 1/8"and cut each in half diagonally to make 4 #D triangles.

MamaHen 08-03-2014 10:58 AM

I would just sew them together & then trim down the block to the correct size.

thimblebug6000 08-03-2014 11:10 AM

Oh man, thank you ladies! YES... I have the original print outs.... but the Errata sheet doesn't show this correction....yeah..off I go to trim....except my friend just called & is popping in soon..... couldn't tell her I was doing my homework :D

Anael 08-03-2014 12:09 PM

You're very welcome :) Why not showing her your beautiful blocks? :D :D

laurafet 08-03-2014 01:22 PM

Thanks for pointing that out Thimblebug and Anael. Just getting ready to do that one, so I won't have to sit and wonder.

A few more blocks- I am kind of skipping around in the catchup.

Here's my version of M1 after many hours and he still has a couple points that ended up blunt! Think I won't start the 2nd one today, it's so hot & sticky in here even with all the fans.

Well I decided to just go for it and get it done! Obviously I'm not very good at working with templates as I'll end up with blunt points on this one too once I trim it to 6 ½".... ugh!

Anael 08-03-2014 09:05 PM

Beautiful Laurafet and Thimblebug! It's about time for a group shot!!

Thimblebug, once in the quilt you won't notice those blunt points. It's not that bad :) On another board once a lady said her points were so off they were in another quilt. I couldn't stop laughing :D :D

laurafet 08-04-2014 04:08 AM

It looks fine Thimblebug! Love the colors.

thimblebug6000 08-04-2014 07:33 AM

I think what I must be doing once I trace around the template on freezer paper, I'm trying to be careful not to shave off any of the paper and I must be leaving the pieces a smidgeon too big. In the night I decided I would remake them...but in the sane light of day.... I think I will leave them & see if they still bother me once I get all 140 blocks made at least once :D

Anael 08-04-2014 07:34 AM

Hahaha thimblebug, wise decision. How large is your block unfinished?

thimblebug6000 08-04-2014 07:54 AM

1 Attachment(s)
Well it was 6 7/8" but it's trimmed down to 6 ½" now ;) Okay here's a group shot, sorry for having them on the floor and the paper with their name attached.... my design wall is full of "other" projects.

Anael 08-04-2014 07:56 AM

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh beautiful thimblebug ! ! ! ! ! Did you already decide on sashing and cornerstones?

laurafet 08-04-2014 11:09 AM

Wow!! Love, love, love it Thimblebug!

This is what I "collected" for it on holiday in June, the blueberry fabric I chose first at Sewing With Class in Stony Plain, Alberta and then I found the green with a brown streak in it at Ziegler Fashions & the Quilt Rack in Vegreville, Alberta... I cropped a picture, sorry it's so small, but it gives you the idea...... I love my blueberries, eat them every morning! :D
