One year DH topped it all off - I got an electric hot dog cooker - you insert a hot dog between each end of the d***'d thing, that completes an electrical circuit and it electrocutes the hot dog. Smelled like burning flesh. OUT IT WENT ASAP!!!

My DH used to give me kitchen appliances and stuff EVERY year. I got silverware, blender, crockpot, mixer, etc. Never anything personal. After a few years I had a serious talk about not getting me any more things to cook or eat with. Now he won't get me anything like that if my life depended on it. I had to buy my own mixer last Christmas when my old one burned out.
So, what does he give me now? Personal items, yes, sometimes. Things I ask for, no! I wear gold jewelry only, but he gives me silver. I asked for a mother's ring, told him which one, what it costed, where to buy it, but he claimed I never even mentioned it. I think he's just too lazy to put much thought into a personal gift for me, so he just picks up whatever he happens to see first, usually only a day or two before Christmas. If we didn't have our two daughters, I'd never get a gift that I really wanted.

my ex-DH always bought lovely expensive jewelry -- every time he strayed -- which started shortly after we were married. I got a gorgeous diamond while I was in hospital for our first child.

I would have settled for a dh that stayed at home.

On an English TV programme, a guy bought his GF a deep fat fryer for her birthday, next scene, she's battering and frying the remote to his TV!

I like the way she thinks. My DH (and I don't mean dear) gave me a Corning ware dish the first year we were married.

my husband always gives me gifts of things he wants. therefore; I must want them. 39 years and I still never get surprised by the selfishness of men I know.
