Good Morning and Thank You everyone for the warm welcome! I couldn't wait to get here this morning. I went to mothers last night for dinner and told her about this group of amazing women and that I think I can find some help with. Thankfully dinner was light and comforting. An oven roast with loads of onions and carrots, quartered potatoes. Needless to say I left the potatoes behind! I'm SO glad Easter is behind us and the candy is GONE! Thats one of my weaknesses is chocolate, along with bread and butter!! But...I can do this!!! Like the little red engine...I Think I Can, I Think I can!!! , Ha! I've already had breakfast, I don't think it was to bad. Two eggs fried in Olive Oil Spray and a tad of Olive Oil, about 7 small cubes of salad ham and a square of non fat cheese. Oh and one small tomato! No coffee so I had ice water in place of. I know I don't have to list what I've eaten but truthfully it helps to keep me honest. HA! No, I won't be sending out my daily menus but for now just a word now and again to help me along. Before Easter I did lose from 262 to 257, I was so happy! But then, cooking, going out to eat, and the candy!!! Lord Help!! What makes it worse is when everyone knows you're trying to lose and yet, the insist you go along to eat "a little something"!! You never eat a little something when you're at an All you can eat buffet!! And will power is something I don't have much of when it's setting under my nose! Well, I gained 3 but still down 2 and thats better than nothing! So, this is it and I'm going to take it from day to day and know there are better days ahead!

I haven't been to active in any sewing lately but yesterday with much enthusiasm I cleaned up my sewing table and the area around and even printed out my PPiecing block for the day! It's the Kansas Star from Carol Doaks 50 Amazing Stars. So, time to take care of a few things around the house and then to the table to see stars!!

Have a lovely day everyone!!

Good Morning Ladies!!!

Ready to go to work, but the respite lady isn't here yet. So thought I would check in and see what everyone was doing. I'm going to finish the last side of the UFO and then post pictures this afternoon. I CAN HARDLY WAIT!!!

Got a walk in last night with a friend. Today is supposed to be really nice (in 80's) so hoping to get the wheelchair out and take Mom for a walk. That way I get some exercise and she gets some sun. Hoping to start a schedule to get out every day that it's nice.

Momma K glad you are with us today. I find that if I can write it down here or say it, then I have created a goal to strive for. One day at a time - but we all know that sometimes it's minute by minute. Treat yourself good. We have been to hard on ourselves over the years.

Ladies - have you found that there is a certain mirror in your house that isn't nice to you. When we remodeled the bathroom for Mom, we put in a bigger mirror. I swear it's the devil himself. When I look at myself in that mirror, I still say not nice things about myself. Know that creates our self image, so trying to look at another mirror before I leave the house.

Take care - be good to you. You deserve it.

Momma K, you might want to look into myfitnesspal.com. You can keep track of your food and activity plus there are several other helpful things there. OR you can report your food to us. We just won't be giving you a calorie count. lol
I had my 10,000 steps in by 7 pm tonight. Whew!
I started a scarf today with this wide yarn that you just knit the top part of it. Hard to explain. It makes a frilly scarf that is pretty cool. Pretty tedious to work with though. I found fabric to use on the binding of my shabby chic quilt and I decided to use 30's reproduction fabric (& bought 10 fq) for the craftsy BOM. I feel like I accomplished something today. Now to hand sew some binding down while I watch tv.
The leader of the knitting group has lost 70 lbs doing a diet with shakes. She is now on level 2 where she can eat food along with her shakes. The good news (for me) is that I have someone I can eat lunch with on mondays who will want to eat only healthy food.

Hi all, I've been busier than usual and haven't been checking in as much as I need to. I'm stuck at 248# and I know that while I've been busy I haven't been exercising. That's gotta change. My legs are giving me big problems and I know getting back to my PT workout will help bring down the pain. And help me lose weight! So again I resolve to go to gym Tuesday am. I'll keep you posted. Did anyone like the lentil recipes?

I am a big fan of My Fitness Pal and fill out the journal every day in the morning. I ALWAYS add my exercise for the day first. It's like making a contract with myself. Then I add my planned food for the day. I find it helps me to say no to things I didn't have planned-I'm not totally inflexible but work very hard to stick with my plan for the day. I even plan my feast meal for Friday night whan I allow myself whatever I'm really craving. I switched up my exercise this time around. I'm working out 6 days a week-6 hours of cardio and 3 - 45 minute strength training sessions with a day off on Saturday. I do my strength training at home using the Chalean Extreme series of dvd's. I do have an advantage in that I was in the fitness industry for 15 years and was certified as a fitness specialist and group exercise leader through courses offered by Kenneth Cooper's Institute of Aerobics(am I really this old?). Anyway, I know good form and know what adjustments to make if I'm not ready for some of the positions(usually working upper and lower body at the same time). I find my balance needs some work but is getting better and I am definitely getting stronger-now if my hips would get the memo. Anyway, Chalean who does the whole Turbo Jam series(love them) always says to schedule your work out and never say that you are going to try to work out. Anyway, I hope I don't sound "teachy" but this is working for me so far and might help someone else. I was shocked to find out I lost 3.4 pounds last Friday with increasing my calories but percentage is what counts in Biggest Losers. So I think my % was about 1.38 but my skinny co-worker lost like a half pound and was over 5%. Just one more challenge on this journey.

PamH, Thank you for the advice on My Fitness Pal. I opened me a file to keep track. I was using Calorie Counter and really liked it but haven't been on it in about a month or so. So far I've logged my breakfast in and felt good about what I seen! Onward and upward!!

Pam, I didn't make last week . No gold star for me. This week will be easy. I have canned (yick, but I won it in a game and can use it in a quiche) and frozen and Meijers has some nice raw baby spinach.

I was using myfitnesspal. I am going back to it today. I need to be more accountable - the candy comsumption is sneaking up again. I didn't feel well yesterday so I tried to feed it away. Didn't work, but I didn't do myself any good. Another leftover from my childhood. I was a very thin child and if I wasn't well, I was overfed to make sure I didn't get thinner. I'm still dizzy, but my muscles hurt less so things will be better today.

The dress top didn't arrive in Albuquerque so I can't start cutting the fabric. I'm getting nervous as I have to be away all day tomorrow and I'm too old to do many all nighters. I will have to curtail my short attention span and stay with it once I can start. I did get my block to be mailed done. Had a tough time making it come out 10 1/2", but I think I got it.

blondeslave, that's good information, and I am a proponent of moving it or losing it, even if moving it hurts, but intense exercise isn't for everyone. We have to find our own level, but we do have to keep our blood circulating. Has anyone tried PBS's Sit and Be Fit? Less than 30 minutes and she hits a lot of body areas. There is an option of standing or sitting. Not as strenuous as the videos mentioned, but it helps and the committent to do something every day helps - 2:30 isn't a favorite time, but I can live with it. I did a 'boot camp' exercise on TV followed by aerobics when I was your age. I wish I could not, but what is, is. I commend you for your diligence while working, too. 3.4 pounds is wonderful. Your friend must have weighed less than 100 pounds to begin with if she lost more than 5% of her weight. Why is a 90 some pounder in a weight loss challenge?

Tonight the quilt recipient, my GD, is taking me to dinner so I had better get some work done around here. She's cutting her trip home to see her family short because she misses her husband. He's back from Afghanistan, but couldn't get leave the same time as hers. She will drive from northern Mich to N Carolina all by herself, straight through. These young ones are so mobile and so brave. Not so young - she's 28.

The wind is blowing hard. I noticed yesterday that have to reroof a large part of the shed, but I will wait until the wind dies down. I hear things thumping around outside. I hope everything is staying where it belongs.

Assignment for today: Live in the present. Today is here - don't put off health improvement until 'tomorrow'.
The 'Time of My Life' is NOW!

I am losing weight and getting healthier.
