Well my secret was Atkins, but I just had the WORST week and needed to not worry about my diet!!! I've never followed it exactly to a T, but I just keep my carbs low. I usually do yoga but I hurt my shoulder and I've had to take a break. I could feel my muscles vanishing and my weight loss stalled. I can't wait to get back at it!

Today my son turns 16!!!! I could hardly contain myself waiting for him to open his birthday present. He loves computer games but has always played on sluggish hand me down computers. We bought him all the components to build his own awesome computer!! That is part of what contributed to my bad week, lots of driving to collect the parts and then the stores running out of stock before we could get what we needed. Going out to eat tonight, then cupcakes, then tomorrow I'm back at eating better!!!!

Judith and Pat, I'm feeling much, much better. Thanks!!

I just put a big batch of veges in the oven with some olive oil, salt and pepper. I just walked through the produce and picked up what looked good: green beans, potatoes, turnip, beets, etc. Can't wait until it's done.

I am off today for presidents day. It has been snowing all day. I just got the text that school is closed tomorrow too. My DH wall hanging is ready to quilt. I have about 100 colors of thread and of course none of them are the right color to quilt it. I ventured out today to Hancocks for thread. The roads were bad but i made it without any issues. Now I can quilt all day tomorrow too. Eating is ok, not good not bad.
My niece wants me to make a quilt for her. I have seen a website posted on here that has tons of childrens fabric. All kinds of fabric listed by category. It seems like there is the word bug in the name. Anyone know?

Good evening all, just checking in.

Coffeegirl, My DH and DS move furniture for a living and right now, are up North freezing while having to move furniture. I would be willing to bet you are right. Between moving furniture and trying to keep your body warm I am sure you probably did burn a lot of calories.

Meanmom, My mom taught me how to make a strawberry roll. They are delicious. And, they are picking the strawberry fields right now. We are getting delicious fresh strawberries. But, I really don't remember how to make it. (Which right now, is a good thing.) Because I probably could eat the whole thing myself. I'm going to try and make it again someday. But, I will have to figure out a way to make it a bit healthier. And, find someone to give all but a slice or two too. Just to get it out of my house. How is your family visit going? Do you still have company.

Megan, How is your shoulder doing? Have you been able to get back to Yoga? Congrats on your son's mile stone birthday. How fun!

CindyA, those roasted veggies sounded so good. I will have to do that soon.

Meanmom, How was your snow day? Did you fit in lots of sewing?

My diet is going well. I am sticking to my plan. And getting in as much walking as I can. The dogs are just loving their individual walks with mommy.

I just got word this morning that a business friend that i have known for 20+ years died last night of complications from surgery. She was only 50....and one of the best people i've ever had the pleasure to know and work with....even tho our business relationship was a long distance one - she was a kindred spirit.
I know it's cliche.....but life is so short - and we never know what tomorrow brings....

PenniF, so sorry for your loss. It's so hard to lose those we care about and it serves to remind us of our own mortality. Getting older is not all it's cracked up to be - and I'm reminded of that daily with stiff joints, aches and pains...and the difficulty of losing weight. I used to be able to maintain a willowy figure without even trying. Now that figure is more pear-shaped. Oh well!

PenniF, I am so sorry. It is shocking to lose someone that young and suddenly. I often find it difficult to mourn when you don't have a lot of people around that were also friends (someone to talk to that knew the person). So sad to lose such good person.

Judith, it's surreal to see you mention they are picking strawberries NOW!!! I just got home from work and had three layers on plus my heaviest winter coat. Gloves, hat, scarf. And I'm making hot chocolate right now. It's supposed to be colder tomorrow and I think more wind. Just a few more weeks, though, and we should be through the worst of this.

PenniF so sorry for your loss. It is so hard, and even harder I think when it is so sudden. Judith it is crazy sounding that they are picking strawberries near you. I have been off all week because of the weather. Monday was presidents day. Tuesday snow, Wednesday more snow and ice. Thursday and Friday extreme cold. It was -17 at my house this morning. I have gotten some much need work done around the house and did manage to get in some extra sewing time. My DH birthday gift is finished. I will attempt to post pictures later. I have a hard time getting them from my iPhone onto the board. I am finally making the new pillows for my living room. Only took 1 1/2 years. One of the 4 is almost finished. I am heading out shortly, I need cording for the pillows. I am heading to the Apple store for a computer tune up.

Penni, so sorry to hear about your friend. And so young! Such a shame.
Pat, are you on pinterest? I have a board just for pics I want to post on the QB. I can just slide it over from pinterest onto the page on QB. That's the only thing I have found lately that works since I can no longer post here from my ipad.
I have been eating a lot of salads since my DD is here. Too bad I have also been eating sweets. This morning we did a walking dvd. It's a Leslie Sansone one. She's pretty good. I am hoping to take my DGD outside this afternoon. It is supposed to get up to 23 today. HUGE improvement!
