Just once my husband went into my sewing room and got my best pair of scissors and used them to cut cardboard, needless to say I was mad enough to spit, well I went to his tool box and got out his best and most expensive chisel and I used it scrap paint off of the side walk, well needless to say he was mad enough to spit. Point made!! He went out and bought me new scissors. Now he realizes that my tools are as task specific as his are, so he askes and also went and bought his own set of scissors. He also has his own iron and ironing board because he likes to use starch on his shirts and I flip out if there is starch on my board or iron.

Mine over the years has learned that "Leave my sewing room alone" if want something ask for it.I have to admit it has taken me 34 years to get the point across but he has learned. But there somethings I have to have him reach for me, for he's 6'2" and I'm only 5'2".

My DH and children learn at an early age, (well not an early age for DH) to respect my sewing things. Course my DH can't find anything on his own.

My DH & DS used my sewing scissors for a cardboard project, ONCE! Boy oh boy did I blister their ears for that. Of course then they had to buy me new scissors, I think that's what really did the trick.

I am just over 5 feet tall, hubby is 6'2. I learned early on that if I do not want him to find things I put them close to the floor if possible. I understand your plight. I have threatened bodily harm if he touches my sissors. Hang in there.

Many years ago, my older son used my good sewing scissors to cut a diaper box. I was yelling at him for touching my scissors, much less using them in that awful way. My husband was working midnights and finally came out of the bedroom and told me to either kill David or be quiet. He needed to sleep.
Well,David will be 34 soon so I didn't kill him. But NO ONE ever used my sewing scissors again. LOL

I'll tell the truth. My husband is afraid to mess with my stuff because I threatened to sew all the openings (every opening not just the fly which apparently is pretty worthless) shut on his underwear. I demonstrated once on just one old pair and hung it on the front door when I was really mad (that was years ago, he remembers the lesson. I used a really small stitchlength!) He got the point.
