I have overnight company coming! They are two (boy) and four (girl) years old. It is SO hot here that outside playtime will be a limited. How do I entertain these little guys? Any ideas for low-cost indoor activities both can enjoy? Thanks in advance! I'm about to have to run an errand but will check back!

Paper dolls ? coloring books.... the little boy may want to play with trucks/cars... dress up ?

Do you have a yard to set up a sprinkler? My day care kids were entertained for hours with that and bubbles.

"Camping" under the dinning room table, maybe a picnic! Vinyl tablecloths are handy here. Maybe even spend the night in the "tent".

Treasure hunts, inside or out. Prize at the end.

Some malls have kids areas if you are close to one, good way to get in some playtime and in the AC.

Finger paint with pudding.

Safety scissors, glue sticks and magazines.

If you have a Dollar Tree close by, I bought a bag of googly eyes, and some of the other kids craft items and we created all kinds of critters and things, for under $5

Baking? This is what I think I would do if I had company, with small children. Everyone could enjoy the results, and some great pictures could be taken also.

If you have a bunch of old magazines and some kid friendly scissors, you could play a find the ____ game. It could be anything. Cars, puppies, something blue, whatever you like. Kids love to see if they can find the item before someone else.

How bout renting some movies. .....or maybe a little cheap kiddie pool.

Throw a sheet over your table so that 3 sides are covered down to the floor. Put pillows and blankies inside and tell them it is a fort or tent. Another thing is to have an indoor picnic. A quilt on the floor and some finger food and you are good to go. Baking is another great one do something easy like monkey bread here is the recipe.

2 tubes biscuits
1 stick melted butter
1 1/4 c sugar
2 tbsp cinnamon

heat oven to 375. cut each biscuit in 1/4. mix cinnamon with the sugar. roll biscuit into a ball, dip in melted butter and roll in cinnamon sugar. as you do it put each ball in a cake pan making layers as you go. if there is leftover butter or cinnamon sugar pour over the top. bake about 30 minutes. cool 5 minutes and invert pan onto plate. DO NOT cut all you do is pull the dough balls apart. This was a fav when my kids were little.

Make a tent and camp out in the family room? My kids love this. Popcorn instead of marshmellows. Paper crafts?

My Gramma did tea parties for boys and girls. In the summer we had lemonade and her homemade cookies. You could make the cookies first them enjoy them. I thought the indoor picnic sounded like a fun idea and you could call it that.
