That test pattern scared the heck out of me. I remember it had a loud buzzing too and all the lines and circles scared me to death. My brothers and sister used to ask me if I wanted to watch cartoons and they would put the TV on early in the morning and there it would be. ( I was the youngest). I would then go screaming to my parents.
Several years ago I was watching a movie and in it they were watching the TV and the test pattern came on. OMG I was still freaked out by it!
My siblings traumatized me

LOL, SusieQOH! I remember having a recurring dream when I was around age 7 or 8, it was of a tree with dark black limbs and branches, and the leaves that would grow to the point of consuming me. So weird and so seemingly harmless, yet it plagued me for months, and even after the dream no longer visited me, I still had creepy thoughts about it that haunted me for months and months after.

The weird and unusual things that spook young children.

I know what you mean. What really surprised me was seeing the test pattern on a tiny TV in a movie freaked me out! Can you believe it? I think it was Raising ARizona, but I'm not certain.

Yes, it really is surprising how something so harmless can have such a lasting effect on a person so many years after the fact.

I've seen Raising Arizona. What a kooky movie.

Yes, everyone I knew laundered their own diapers, and everyone hung them on the clothesline.

it was built in 1930, only 12 years before i was built. so many things i use are over 50 years old and they still work fine. how long will the new ones last?

EDIT: anyone remember diaper delivery? i got that as baby gifts - one year for each child.
Sure do. I used to babysit for a mom that used diaper service, and I remember how I used to have to walk the wet and dirty diapers through the house (after I changed them) to put them in the plastic diaper pail which sat in the back porch!
