Oh, thank you 1000Scrapes and DJ for this post! I have been looking around for an element to add to my next project and this is it! And Watson, your red & white Christmas Star is the bomb! Quilting Board comes to my rescue again! <3

These things are addictive! Here's another I did to match the Christmas tree skirt that I made for my best friend last year. I added a few crystals to the hanger for some bling!
This time I used a heavier fuseable and I liked the results even better.

I made a few yesterday. What do you do with them? I was thinking of using them for tree ornaments. How would you attach a string or ribbon? I don't want to put a hole in them, maybe glue or sew ribbon on?? I also used heavy duty wonder under and it seemed to glue up my needle. I'm going to get some lightweight wonder under to do more. Easy to do, but it took time...

That star on the tip that you see is a button, so I threaded a needle with heavy waxed thread and ran it through the tip of one of the stars and then both ends back through the button, so you couldn't see the thread. Then I added the crystals and put a crimp on the thread so the crystals won't fall off. I left long tails so she can decide how she wants to hang them and at what height. This one is big, for hanging in a window. I couldn't imagine doing them as tiny tree decorations. They would take forever.
I was wondering about using them as the centre of a table runner. Whether I could satin stitch around it and give it some 3-d effect, but I think you'd have to do them with extremely light fuseable for that.

I made a couple Friday night with 4.5" because that was the size of my scraps. They turned out okay. Will I do more, I doubt it. I generally don't do this type of sewing and I'd rather spend my time piecing.
(Nothing against the process, just my type of sewing likes)
I like your little hanger, Watson.
lindalou, HD paper backed fusibles are made for no sew projects and will gum up your needle. The Lite version is designed to be sew through.
