I call it both names but never put into the turkey - too much mess - plus I like the crusty stuff and always use cornbread. Yum, can't wait for Thanksgiving.

I use the Bell's stuffing mix, Jones sausage meat, chopped onions, and Swanson chicken broth. I saute the sausage meat, onion and chicken broth in a cast iron frying pan then add it to the stuffing mix. Keep adding the broth till the stuffing is soft and moist. Refrigerate for 24 hours and then stuff the turkey cavity, making sure the center of the stuffing is 165 degrees on instant read thermomenter.or continue cooking the turkey about another half hour after the breast temp. is 180 degrees.

In the bird, and on the side...William loves StoveTop...and doesn't like the stuffing from the bird...I prefer the stuffing from the bird, but I also like Stovetop...

Sometimes I make it from scratch, sometimes I use the boxed mix. I am a southerner and we always called it dressing. I never put in the bird, just bake it like a casserole.

STUFF MY TURKEY!
That's why it's called STUFFING!!
If it's in a pan on the side and not INSIDE the turkey, it's DRESSING

For years I would make a turkey and "stuff" it. I too love the flavor or stuffing baked inside the turkey. Last few years though someone else in the family has stepped up to make our Thanksgiving feast (yippeee) so I just enjoy whatever they make.

I bake southern-style dressing on the side...made with cornbread, white bread, onion, celery, broth, butter and seasonings. It's the same recipe my grandmother used, although sometimes she added sausage or oysters to it.
