There is just Mother and I. She hates leftovers (I love them), we compromise by going to Cracker Barrel. We went last year -- no kitchen to clean, the food was pretty good and we did not overeat. We still cook a Pumpkin Pie -- not considered a leftover.

Our menu varies a bit from my family to my husbands, but we do a lot of what has already been mentioned here. Turkey and ham, sage stuffing w/onions and celery, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry relish, sweet potatoe casserole, corn pudding, collard greens, corn spoon bread, rutabagas mashed w/butter salt&pepper, and enough gravy to float a small boat. Dessert at my DMIL is usually a pumpkin pie and a storeboght cake, at my DM she is the pie lady. Everymajor holiday she makes her own crust and puts out cherry, deepdish apple, pumpkin, chocolate cream pie and lemon meringue pie. I used to eat her apple pie for breakfast the week after a holiday when I lived at home. Man, this thread is making me ready for a great big holiday dinner with the family. I am thankful to still have most of my family living nearby, I do miss my father immensely every holiday - he passed 14 years ago. Enjoy your family while you have them!

Gotta have jellied cranberry sauce and dressing with lots of sausage and sage in it. Also pink stuff - it's kind of a jello mousse thing. Candied sweet potatoes are another great, but my stepmom doesn't make them, just my mother. Normally this would not be a problem except I"m going to my dad and stepmom's this year.

And honestly....I can do without the turkey OR the ham, and most likely will. I'm just sick of turkey, leftover turkey, dishes made from leftover turkey, then the cheap turkey you bought because it was three cents a pound when you bought $50 worth of groceries and how can you pass up a deal like THAT!? It beats starving, I'll grant you that, but still.....give my helping to someone else.
