I am being checked by a Lyme disease specialist who says Lyme can cause hair loss. In the mean time I am taking vitamin B12 which seems to help.

As far as I know, my hair loss is genetic - both my grandmothers wound up with very thin hair and odd hairlines. I started seeing my hairline receding a handful of years ago. Started taking prenatal vitamins a short time later (for teeth issues, no less, prescribed by my dentist!) and my hair has never been healthier. I get mine from Wal-Mart; it's actually cheaper, on my plan, to buy buy them over the counter than it is to fill a prescription!

I too have been loosing my hair like crazy. Cleaning out the brush at least a couple of times with each brushing. I believe it is Thyroids causing this. I had gotten really sick a couple of months ago, the doc did some blood test, found that my thyroid things are low, putting me on synthroid. Since then my hair has been filling my brush.

Thanks for any response.
Go to Walmart get Spring Valley "Hair, Skin and Nails" vitamin...3000mcg of Biotin. Plus lots of the other vitamins as well. Been on it for a year and my hair is back to normal. It was getting so thin on the top..caused from bad case of Shingles, loosing 30 pounds, and I've been on thyroid meds for 25 years. But these vitamins have worked. Just take a long time. $7. a bottle at Walmart, I take 2 a day, recommended dose I think is 3 a day...

My RN granddaughter said that I have symptoms of low Thyroid problems. Thinning hair, loss of outer eyebrows, always cold, diet but can't lose weight..there are others but those are what I remember her talking about. Also hearing loss, but I think that in my family it's an inherited problem, every one of my siblings and I wear hearing aids, as do a lot of our kids. Lots of other symptoms I find on the internet now, but don't relate to me.

A chemist cousin said there's another Thyroid test beyond the TSH one, because the regular TSH one can grab onto fluorine, all the "ines" in our food and declares the result is normal, while it is really low. And he said to try to find an herbal alternative if the one Dr. prescribes doesn't work out.
. I'm going to discuss it with my DR in my next month's appointment (first doctor's visit in 6 or so years)
