My mother struggled with her weight for all her life. Now she is diabetic and she weighs 112. I'm going to visit her for 10 days each month and eat exactly what she does, writing it down. Thia ia cheaper and more effective than Jenny or Nutrisystem. Until I can get there, I will be sticking to Slimfast for a jump start.

I will gladly share what I learn and my daily progress. This ismy plan and I'm sticking to it.
Gwyn,

I am sorry you gained your weight back. I know how that feels.

Your plan to spend time with your mom and eating the same way she does sounds like a good plan to me. The journaling of the food you eat is a great thing. I hope that gives you the jump you need to get back on the losing track.

Do you have diabetes like your mom? I do not remember reading that you have that problem.

I will be thinking about you and how you are doing with your mom.

Don't forget to write in and tell us what you are learning and how you are eating. I would love to hear that.

Hang in there! I am here for you anytime.

Missy
Yes, I have diabetes. 10 years now. My mother's weight loss is from when she was diagnosed. That is why I amgoing to follow exasctly what she does. After 3-4 months, I can mix and match days and keep going. Oh well.

I've been reading about diet soda and have decided to stop. Iced green tea, oolang, orange andother herb tea will be just fine for me.

One activity I am starting next week is Tea Time. I want to have a snack ready for when Stephen gets home from school. Milk and me with tea. Some small treats for him andfruit for me. It will be fun for everyone. Tea Time I'll let you know how it goes.

I really like your plan. Especially the Tea Time. I think you will do great on this new plan. I am interested in what your mom eats. Please keep us updated!

Good for you Gwyn, I am up and then down with the same 5 pounds it seems like month after month. I have lost 30 pounds but now seem in a rut. What you are doing my be the perfect thing to get yourself back on track. I am not disciplined enough to keep a journal for more that a day or two. Good luck and please keep us posted.

You all should really try Livestrong. com. It is a web site sponsed by Lance Armstrong, the cyclist. It has really helped me. It also moniters your diet if you are a diabetic.

I was at a funeral this week so I didn't eat my normal meals. But I preplanned what I would eat and I stayed under 1,600 calories each day. I also haven't been exercising because of the heat, it was 116 at 6 pm on Weds. and it has been running around 110 every night this week. I did go last night it was 109, when I left, but overcast. It is projected to go down tomorrow to right around 100 as a high.

I have missed most of the posts but am slowly going back and catching up for the month.

Such a great group and so much support.
Grannie: What issues are you having that impact your diet. My father was on blood thinners. I can't be on them because my body produces a natural blood thinner. Perhaps I can answer your questions. At least I can listen.

Gail,

Keeping a food journal has really been eye opening for me. Plus my insurance requires it. I just do it on Excel.

Carol,

I think you are doing great. But, as far as exercising in that heat. No way Jose. Way too hot for me.

:)

Well, I got down to 141.5 the other day but then went back up to 143. I'm not worried, as it is probably water retention. I started walking today so I'm hoping to drop that sneaky weight and more before the end of the month.:D

I can gain and drop 5 pounds in a day due to water. I drink a lot of it because I'm outside a lot.
