What washer to buy?

Check to see what it takes to change the fliter. My GF's front loader has bolts 1/4 " off the floor that mucst be taken out to change it. Can't even get my hand around a nut runner to change them... hate it. No fun when you have your head on the floor and you still can't extract the botls. 1/4 " drive ratchet and extensions were needed. Don't recall the name.

I have an LG front loader. Love it! I've had it for eight years now and it's still going strong. It's never needed repairs. There is a pause button if I need to add to the load and a little door near the bottom front to drain excess water.

If you buy a top loader, check to be sure you can reach down to the bottom to get stuff out. Seems pretty basic, but I'm 5'5" and can barely reach the bottom of ours without a step stool. Not something I checked before I purchased it.

I have a 14 year old Kenmore. Top load, only one repair, when a bobby pin put a hole in the pump.
When I had it repaired about 8 years ago, the repair man told me he could keep it running for years. He hated being called out for front loader machines as he had to wait for parts, sometimes weeks.
Since that one repair I have not had another.
My brother and his wife bought a top of the line Samsung pair. Top load, no agitator, lid locks, automatic water levels etc. I have used it and do not like it at all.

I absolutely detest my front loader. I thought I was going to love it but I was never so wrong! It gets musty and the rubber seal is moldy plus you can't soak anything in it (never occurred to me before I bought it).
I can't wait till mine dies
PS. I'm also not too excited to buy a new washer anytime soon. I hear bad things about most of them. I think they used to make them a lot nicer than they do these days.

I have a LG front loader that I love. I can stop the washer with a pause button if I need to add anything. The door has a stop so you can leave it slightly ajar if you'd like. I have always left it open, and have never had any problems with it. The filter is on the front, so it is easy to clean. I've been very happy with it. We've had it 7 years.

I have a Speed Queen washer, top loader. It is a simple model with no computer. I didn't want a computer because it is just one more thing to go wrong. It is a simple model with delicate, regular wash and permanent press cycles. It is all I need. It replaced my 26 year old Maytag washer that did laundry for 6 kids.

I will never have another front loader washer. Not only would it not balance itself it was a pain to have to run every time we heard it clunking. Thankful it was on the main floor. There just isn’t enough water to wash quilts and quilting fabrics to set the colors. It is a GE and I can’t wait for it to die. I may have to help it. Just my 2 cents worth.
