This machine may be a redeye? the case is rare.
I would buy this in a second.
go to mySINGERstory.com, put in the serial number and they will tell you the year, give you a certificate and you can enter to win the 160th anniverysary model.
SingerCo.com will allow you to download a free manual.
The machine is not a red eye and that case is not rare- there are more and more coming to the surface as people downsize.
As far as a manual at the Singer site- you may be out of luck- Singer has suddenly removed their serialnumber look up bank meaning you are not able to identify the model without major research.

These sites do work or at least did yesterday. As you can see, I've divided it into their (singer's) major divisions.
Without any letter prefix: http://www.singerco.com/support/mach...umbersNoLetter
With a single letter prefix: http://www.singerco.com/support/mach...rsSingleLetter
With a double letter prefix: http://www.singerco.com/support/mach...rsDoubleLetter
I sincerely hopes this helps any and all interested. Another good site is the Vintage Sewing Machine Shop site on the QB.

Yesterday they were active but now the detailed banks breaking out models etc are gone- Singer responded to our inquiry about it with nothing more then you can call if you have questions- phone lines were busy all day.
I have been trying to get one of the moderators for this group to allow a post I wrote 2 different times and was removed. The post explained the serial number elimination and asked Everyone to contact Singer requesting it be returned to get them to see it is valuable.

That really sucks!! And a major bummer to boot! Now when you find one in the wild, how do you know if it's "the one" you've been looking for all your life or is one you already have 3 of in the collection. I've tried the phone # several times to no avail - never could get through the menu to even get anything else! Time to storm their gates with emails and pohone calls - I agree with you.

I wrote Singer about this quite a while back. This was their answer:
“Thank you for writing Singer Sewing Company.

Unfortunately, the serial number data on our website is no longer available.

However, you can still get your historical questions answered by either emailing us at [email protected] or by calling our Consumer Affairs Department at 1-800-474-6437 - Monday through Friday, 8AM to 4PM CST.

Cordially,

What I don't understand is why they pulled the lists. It doesn't make sense and diminshes good will towards their company. Well, I did email them and hopefully so will millions of others.

The repair person at my Bernina shop used to be a singer reapairman and seems to think they are easy to get -- I also have an older singer than needs a repair.
i would try the pro at wherever your 'god' machine came from and I bet they will find one for you.
