color choices for a baby quilt for a boy...

Boy, girl... they only grow up to be what they have been conditioned to be (think, feel, act) from society. I was given a baby quilt when my son was born. They thought I had a girl. The quilt was done in bold pinks and greens. I did not care... my son used that quilt when he was a baby and throughout his childhood. Heck, he still has his baby quilt and he is 25 now (and yes, he is a very masculine adult). loll. That quilt holds a lot of memories for him, and he never cared that it was pink and green. Now, if i had told him that it was for a girl or too girly... he might not ever have looked fondly upon that quilt.
Personally I think that bright, bold colors are more interesting for babies to look at as well as something that is also easily grown into as they get older.

Or will at 4 years old, if the quilt lasts that long.
Are you worried the other kids will taunt him in pre-K because his blankie isn't masculine enough?

Just make the quilt with lots of love.
Drool and vomit and poop look the same on pink as they do on blue.

I recently made one of mostly primary colors as I didn't know the gender of the baby. I also tend to think of long lasting and try to make something that will last at least to pre-K. But I also agree poop and vomit look the same on all colors. And hope that the quilts I make have plenty of that stuff on them over the years!

lIhave three grown sons,( quite manly) and they all had pastel colored quilts. They were made for a baby and were soft and pretty. If you are making a crib size quilt it will be put away more than likely when he is 2 years old and moves to a bigger bed,and the crib size won't fit anyway.prefer the soft pastels.
