I've recently gone through a lot of mine and made the plastic tubs a little more compact. In doing that I was able to empty out 3 or 4 completely...
I helps to look at what you have periodically. But today I was looking for some solid light blue and couldn't find any.

I have a generous stash, but it is all on Boards and easy to see. When shopping. I have bought duplicates, but most of the time I buy fabrics to coordiinte for a mysterious future project and therefor do not mind duplicates.

I'm a visual person so all of my fabric is on shelves or behind glass. I do KNOW what I have because I take it out and pet it regularly. DH tells me to go pet my stash when I get grumpy.
Writing it down would not make a damn bit of difference because I would still go look at the shelf before I would look at t alist.

I'm not organized enough to keep a record of what I have. Mine is sorted by color. I would rather spend my time sewing - not keeping a spreadsheet. If I sew enough I wouldn't have need of a spreadsheet - I wouldn't have too much fabric.
