I don't refer to it as a hobby as it is my "passion". I don't consider myself a professional but I have done commission works and I love what I do. it is a learning process as there is always a new technique to try

Hobby, passion, reason to get up in the morning, I would call my love of quilting all of the above. Remember...a rose by anyother name....

Yes, I do refer to quilting as a hobby because it is! Job interviewers ask this question all of the time.

To me a hobby is just the way I spend my most productive time. And yes, stamp collecting is a hobby and takes a lot of time and research and just as much dedication as quilting. Just not as much talent!!! LOL (No, I'm not a stamp collector.)

Funny how I never thought of it as being a hobby. When asked I say it is my passion, my love, and yet when filling out a questionaire asking about hobbies, quilting is what I list. It is everything that all of you have stated. It is a talent,an art, an expression, and the best of all of it is the ever giving from the heart! We are all in the family called "The Quilting Sisters".............

YES! I'm a quilter too. And I don't do repairs either - EXCEPT for my family.

Quilting is my "tranquilizer" - My intake of Prozac has deminished considerably as I spend more time at the machine.

Many consider hobby is something you do with little effort that brings you pleasure. You can pick it up, put it down, toss, whatever, whenever you choose. My quilting is not a hobby using that definition. I can stop reading a book I don't enjoy. I can throw away a knitting project that doesn't satisfy me, but I just can't give up on a quilting project. My sil is visiting us for three weeks. I say housework is her hobby, but perhaps it isn't as she just can't stop cleaning. I let her enjoy her "passion" as it gives me more time to quilt.
