I actually use stash a lot. Much of it was given to me so I don't have much attachment to it. It is easy to cut into stash fabric, sew it up, and give it away. I buy fabric against my better judgement because I adore it and want it for myself. Therefore, I'm not as interested in using it and giving it away. Át the same time, I'm usually making something for someone else. I use fabric I buy also, that was for use in something else or because I didn't have enough of a color. And I use scraps.

Hopefully, staying a way from websites will greatly reduce my expenditures.

I enjoy my addiction and have no desire to quit. I think they call that, denial?

Well, I'm not willing to say I won't buy anymore fabric until my stash is used up. I am willing to commit to reduced spending, a moratorium, or something more obtainable. Maybe what I need is a strict budget. After all, the fabric won't kill me unless I stack it too high and it falls on me or something.

I think in the last few months I have become a fabricaholic. I have made many online purchases to build up stash to make quilts for kids in need. No idea when I'll get around to making the quilts, but hey most of the fabric will be in the closet. I think maybe I went a little crazy to ward of the winter blues, but it sure was fun!

I think joining a recovery group infers that I want to recover and I can't say that I do. lol

I'm in the same boat. Even if I never bought another yard of fabric I could still make quilts for the rest of my life without running out of fabric. I just keep making as many quilts for charity as I can. I would like to use up all my scraps but they seem to keep multiplying no matter how many I use. Not sure what they are doing in those tubs while I'm sleeping. I still can't pass up a good sale on fabric, and of course, I always need those background fabrics like black (my favorite). If you discover a way to quit collecting fabrics please let the rest of us know.

    My great suggestion...
put yourself on a financial fabric budget. Use the word "don't" instead of "can't" and say I don't want to spend more than $100 per month on fabric (or whatever your budget is).
Put yourself on a fabric room budget too. I will only buy up to about half of what I use. I will use 4 yards making a baby quilt. That will allow me space to get 2 more yards... Kinda like one thing out before another comes in.

My advise next time you feel the "urge".... go spend at least 15 minutes organizing/folding or other attempts to make sense of your stash... it cures me.

Pillow cases use up a lot of fabric, too! Plus, they're quick to make. I make them when I'm in need of a quick project to take my mind off of a 'difficulty' I'm having with my current project.

I was doing really good not buying new fabric for awhile there, but then I finished paying off my car and ALL of my credit cards (ALL zeroes!!), I got a fat tax return on top of that AND had a birthday and decided that I was overdue for some splurging! I bought an armload at the LQS then hit 3 more online shops before I felt satisfied. I just finished opening and unloading a box of lovelies that arrived while I was at work...delicious! One more box I'm waiting for....

I will likely not buy any new fabric for awhile after this, though, unless I need something for a quilt I'm actually working on. (As opposed to the hundred or so quilts I have in my head that I'm always keeping my eyes open for the perfect fabric for...) I picked up all sorts of fabrics for quilts I've had in mind for awhile...oh how I wish I didn't have to work for a living and just could sew all day for the next six months straight! (Retirement is coming....in, oh, 20 years or so. GROAN!)

But oh....my stash has some lovely new treasures AND I had money left to put into savings like a good girl. I regret nothing!! I'm a Fabriholic and not ready to quit being one! LOL
