    Great quilt! Congratulations!

I'd do as others have suggested and keep it simple. My Brother 450Q has a serpentine stitch, which is a wavy line, that I use a lot when quilting. It's a little more decorative than straight line quilt and goes fast. Or there's always stitch in the ditch, which, frankly, I find difficult....keeping the stitch (needle) in the ditch, lol.

And yes, use a walking foot. Good luck, whatever you choose to do!

I felt that the fabrics were "enough" activity in this piece - so I used stitch in the ditch quilting.

In fact, I may have only quilted the vertical lines. I used warm and natural batting.

Wow, that's your first quilt? You did a great job. My oldest son would have loved that when he was a child.

I second everything in this post.

I would also do simple straight line quilting with a walking foot, or a wavy quilting. I would not do stitch in the ditch since it is difficult to keep to the ditch. I would consider 1/4" away from the ditch. If it were mine, I would start in the center and straight stitch to each corner, and then keep going about an inch apart, in a sort of "sun ray" design.

Thank you for everyone's help. I ended up doing stitch in the ditch. Not perfect, but my son was very happy.

Great job, especially for a first quilt. Hope it is just one of many that the future will bring.
