When it't the main fabric for a quilt, I try to get 3 yards.

I would be really bummed to buy too little, but can't buy tons of all the ones I love! I'd have to move into a cardboard box under the bridge!

I try to go for 3 yards unless I can visualize it as a backing then I go 6.

If I really, REALLY like it, then I'll get 5-6 yards. If I just really like it, then 3 yards. If I just like it, then 1 yard. I've gotten to where I don't buy less than a yard of anything.

Just depends on the fabric, if I have the extra money, and I am to the point where I ask myself if I really need it or will it sit and look pretty.

What's with the 3 yards? GUess you have patterns you do that you know take that much. I usually buy 2-3 if on sale and at least one yard if not just so I have some. Then again, the fabric I am selling on here comes in 1 yd, 1-1/2 yd and 2 yds pieces mostly. SO guess that's my answer...and I'm stickin' to it. LOL
