Oh I know how you feel
I was making an adorable outfit for my daughter when my machine decided to act up and tore a piece out of it. I had spent weeks smocking it. Having small children at my feet I calmly unplugged the machine, picked it up, walked out the door, put it behind my SUV and backed over it a few (hundred) times....Hubby was not happy, I needed a new tire when I was done. That was not the first outfit it screwed up but it was its last. I bought a replacement machine in craigslist for $60.00 and have not missed that expensive piece of crap. Still can't talk hubby into buying me a new machine...lol but at least that one will never darken my doorway again.

All of this is why I use my 1941 cast iron Singer----and not the 4 new (some basically untouched!) machines that I have bought through the years. If it goofs up, I unthread it and rethread it and do the same to the bobbin. Then it always works. I vote that you look for a yardsale/Craigslist old machine, spend a few bucks having it gone through by a pro, and then sew away blissfully into the sunset for many years......

I used to have a machine like that. After fighting it for several years I gave up and got a new machine. I sold the old one to a lady at the quilt shop and she had the same hatred for that machine withing a month and she sold it. Some times there are just lemon sewing machines. Good luck with a new one. Also mine was a very well known brand that most people love.

I feel so bad for you. I agree with running it over with the car.
