I love my Pfaff quilt expression 4.0 for the same reason. I used to sew on my grandmother's old Bernina. But when I visited my cousin I worked on her Pfaff and fell in love with several features - the IDT being one of them. It makes accurate sewing so much easier. And it can be used with many different sewing feet - that's a big advantage as well.

I also used the IDT to sew together and quilt my corduroy bed throw, sometimes it went a bit hard over the thick seams but it worked.

I always thought the IDT - which Pfaff calls 'dual feed' in all its promotional and sewing machine manuals - meant Integrated Dual Technology.

Anyway, when you view the video you see that little black thing behind the foot on the machine. You can see it grabs the material just like having a set of feed dogs on the top of the material Thus, you have an even feed when that IDT - or black thingy - is in place. If the sewer doesn't want that then it is just lifted out of the way.

It makes sewing much easier for the person using the machine. It also is a much desired assist for those with any hand or finger handicap.

I love mine. I don't think I'd be sewing as much without it.

I am with you, I have had 3 Pfaff's and would not sew on anything else. Good machines! Not only are the other manufacturer's big and bulky but they are expensive as well. Jan
