Love my Pfaff with the IDT. I have other machines (Featherweight, Elna) but my Pfaff is still my go-to machine. And you can change sewing machine feet and still have the walking foot action.

I love my Pfaff also, and always sew with the IDT. I do like how easy it is to disconnect if you need to do a project without it.

Well now I feel really silly. My first thought was that it was a secret code like lol or lmao. Then I thought it might be a strange sort of smiley face...:) I even thought it was a quilt square pattern. I even thought of a new birthcontrol method

To discover it is a particular capability of a sewing machine made in Utah...the best machine ever made...I feel really stupid. I see why you call it IDT...try saying Integrated Dual Transportation 3 times really fast.

My machine is a cheap Brother from Walmart. The Pfaff I inherited from my best friend last May still uses a treadle and can't even zigzag...but I'll keep it just the same.
ROFL! Thanks for the laugh. We learn something new every day. You are so lucky to have a treadle! :-P

I used to work at a LQS and they sold Pfaff’s. I got one because of the IDT but the computer broke after 2 years and was expensive to fix (I never kept a magnet in the sewing room.) I got a FW in January this year and love it.

So is that basically like a walking foot?

It's the main thing that makes up for the fact that my high end Pfaff has never had good communication with the computer. It is easy to engage and disengage and is not bulky and helps with accuracy. No need to really 'push' the fabric through as the machine 'grabs' it.
