I placed the order on Jan 5th, they charged my debit card and sent the email and I have heard nothing since.

This is a really good reason to use a credit card and not a debit card for online purchases. If you even have any chance of recovering your money from a debit card purchase, it's more difficult than with a credit card.

I placed an order with this company and got a confirmation email within a short time. The email showed my items as beign available and stated that orders are usually sent out 24-48 hours after being placed. In all my online purchases, I have found that if a store is going out of business, it will sometimes take an extra couple of days for the shipments to leave there. They stated that I would receive an email once it ships containing tracking information.

I placed the order on Jan 5th, they charged my debit card and sent the email and I have heard nothing since. I call every day, several times a day, have emailed numerous times to the email addy in their email listed as customer service and used the "contact us" form on their site. I have a phone number for customer service in their email and the one on the site and have googled it several times. I call all the numbers I can find (only one has a VM, the other just rings nonstop) and leave a msg every day since I started getting worried (about on the 10th).

I have no other ideas of what to do about it. UPS (how it is supposed to be shipped) can't help me without tracking numbers. I have never heard of a fabric store charging until the order is ready to go out the door. At first I was thinking I was beign a little overboard, but I figure if I leave one vm a day and send one msg a day, that isn't too overwhelming if they are just behind. But, the thing that gets me is I have no idea what is going on. The last vm and msg, I told them that it looks like they just took me for my money.

Who can I contact-BBB-chamber of commerce????

A credit card charge is not treated the same as a debit card charge. But, check with your bank anyway. This is just what I have been told.

I would contact credit card company and dispute the charge. The merchant has to abide by their agreement with Visa/MC and get credit posted back to your account or explain how they are going to get your order taken care of pronto.

this is a giant pain in the a**, but if you spent a lot it may be worth it to you: you can contact the att'y general's office in the state that the company had their business. there will be an online form where you can report the fraud (that's what is now is). hold on to whatever records you have' that would be any receipts, any statements or confirmations. etc. try to remember what days you tried to contact them and write that down. you want to have a record of everything pertaining to the sale and non-delivery. eventually, a real person should get back to you. he/she will ask specific questions and want copies of everything. you probably aren't the only person who got cheated, so they'll have a file. their office will bring suit against the company. if there is any money left after they went out of business, the money will be divided among the people who got cheated. if they filed for bankruptcy and have no money, there won't be anything for you to get back. whatever you paid on your debit card has been spent and your bank is not really responsible for that money. it's like giving someone a signed check. i think your best hope lies with the att'y gen'l. i can tell you it takes a long time and a lot of patience. if you paid what you consider to be an amount you can live with, you may not want to start this process. i did it for a great deal of money (and that was on a credit card that american express did not want to return the money on within two hours) and i would not bother doing it again unless i was desperate because by the time we got the money back (10 mos)we would have starved to death. the attorney general's office finally got our money back from american express and i doubt if AE ever collected from the cheats.

forgive my asking, but what is the fabric company that did this?

Actually, you may be OK having used your debit card. A few years ago my son ordered some motorcycle parts using his debit card. He received some of the order, but not all. After trying to deal with the company for a while, he found out they were going out of business. He contacted his bank and, because his debit card was a Mastercard, his account was credidted with the full amount of his order. He had boxed up the items he received and was going to send them back, but was never contacted by the company to do so. In the end, he received some of the parts and all of his money. Contact your bank about the possibility of having your account credited.

Thanks to all mentioning using a credit card for most on line orders. Have never had a prob with the shops I order from, but admit to being cautious & buying from places I trust. That being said, I intend to talk to the bank about their policy & if need be, getting a CC for on line orders.

I have one credit card that I ONLY use for fabric type purchases. I figure if I have a problem it is easier for me to trace it. I am very careful about who I do business with. I checked out that going out of business place and was a little concerned as to why an on-line store is quitting business what with the popularity of on-line shopping right now. Note to everyone, "Buyer Beware!"

having heard that other members have also bought from this vendor and are experience the same problem, i have decided to make an exception an post the name of the business in question.

http://doxieshop.com/

those who have placed orders and been charged without having received the items ordered should contact your banks immediately to report it. they will have specific advice, i'm sure, regarding your best course of action.

since this business has decided to close down anyway, we can do no further harm by naming them outright.

we do not, however, want to drag other businesses into this thread. ;-)
