I started this project by cutting lots of squares. I have been using them as starters and enders, then dropping them in a basket. Progressed to adding a third block and then joining the strip of threee to another three, etc. I counted last night and I only need 7 more to be all complete! Of course I need to change them up some. I am doing a lap quilt with D9P for a niece and a twisted 9P for me!! All this sewing and basically no extra work. I love it!!

Hi Ladies, My computer crashed yesterday morning. I am not sure when I will be back up and running. I am writing from work. I will try and check in when I can and hope to not get horrible news about the computer. Hope to see you all soon. I guess with no computer I will have more time to sew.
|
I made six more yesterday...2 for Christmas quilt...4 for scrappy. Anyone know where we should be countwise now.
|
Approximately 39 (16 from June + 23 from July = 39 total).
Hope that helps :D |
Is it too late to join in on this? Do they have to be any certain size or pattern? I have a gallon of 2" squares cut up already and was thinking this might be a good way to use them if its ok.
|
Come on in! We're glad to have you!
|
I've completed 42 which was what I needed to complete the quilt I'm making ...
Now I need to work on the next project :D |

I got dropped from this thread ages ago. I did get additonal fabric to finish the first set I started, just haven't gotten back to them. Started another set, made about 24 and had to cut more fabric to make a few more. These are going into a D9P, I will post pictures after I get the 9 patches done.

I just had to vent, but I love these nine patches. I have lots of patches cut, just have to sit down and sew them together. Oh see my new thread....."What a find!" Blessings, Ruth |

Ann Clare, The red white and black quilt is quite stunning! I love it! Your other quilts are very pretty as well, but the red white and black one really caught my eye!!
|
Our local quilt shop is doing something similiar to this called the "Nine Patch Quilt Along." You make a 9 patch of any size and type each day in month of August. You take the month of September to make the blocks into a quilt top. On October 2nd you bring your quilt or quilt top into the shop for a show and tell event. People who live too far to come in can post a picture of their's on the website. I like the idea cause it's something everyone can do, regardless of skill level. They are running a blog throughout through which people can give updates on their progress if they want.

ann clair, beautiful projects. This is such a fun project because we are using up scraps/stash and getting beautiful results. I am working on "twisting" some 9p now. I hope to post pictures soon!
|

Hi Ladies! My computer is still sick so I am checking in from work again. :-( Great to see and read how you are all doing though! :-) I added Cheriefaye to the activities page. Welcome!
I also added links to the blocks, tops, etc. that you have posted. Great job, they look wonderful! I have been sewing and unsewing my blocks. I got all the 9P for my Mom's lap quilt done and then realized I reversed the colors so I took them apart and redid them. I suppose I could have left them since no one but I would know but I just couldn't. I used the pattern I posted for the table topper and modified it some to make the lap quilt. I think it is turning out very nicely. As soon as my I get my computer back I will post pictures. Well, I am going to run for now. Hopefully I will rejoin you on a more regular basis soon. |
Thank you B&T, my computer has been down a while, so I'm playing catch-up today. I'll see, I'm a non tool-girl. You see it you use it, no exams or explanations, lol, my fault. Thanks so much for the information. Blessings, Ruth

Actually, I guess I have done twice as many. Instead of 35 I did 70. :? Like I said no one else would have known they weren't what I intended, but I knew and it bothered me. :| Well, I probably won't be able to check in until at least next Wednesday night. Have a GREAT weekend everyone! :-D

Hi Everyone,
how are your projects coming along? |
I am slowly working on my pastel 9 patches using 2 inch squares and strips. Using up small pieces to clear out some clutter. Used five 9P in my June doll swap and will use some in my August doll swap as well.
|
Hey, y'all. I've sewn a few more but not appreciably so. My count is an extra 12 for disappearing nine patch, and that is with the 32 from before of odds and ends. I've got to get back to it. They are delightful to make...that equals EASY in my book. Hope you are all progressing well. I don't just do that, I've got a few other irons in the fire, plus a PT job.
Blessings, Ruth |

I haven't forgotten about doing this challenge. Life has gotten in the way. I've got sooooo many other things to do that I had a little extra time and decided to get all the blocks done and put together while I had the chance. I still need to add a couple borders. This measures 60" x 86" so far. I only need this to be full-size and it'll be for my older brother. He has blues, browns and greens in his bedroom.
I'm going to use the same white paisley for the first border then I thought that I'd add a small border of blue to frame it and then add all the extra 2 1/2" sqs. I had cut extra as another border and then add another border of the white paisley. I have a blue paisley backing fabric I can use. I haven't figured out what I'm going to use for the binding, but I might possibly add all the extra 2 1/2" strips together and make a scrappy binding to go with the scrappy quilt I made him. I have 111 blocks in this quilt(I know it's more than I needed to make, but I didn't want to make a lot of tablerunners and really wanted to do this for my brother) and NO two 9-patch blocks are the same. Thanks for looking! Looking at the quilt top without borders from length to length 9-patch block on point the edge of quilt before adding the first border Another view of the quilt Another all over view of quilt top for my older brother |
dkabasketlady What a great quilt! A wonderful splash of color. Love the white paisley you used as your constant.

Well, I just did 13 more ninepatches. And I have another swap to work on and that will give me another 13. Whewwww, It mounts up faster than I ever thought it would.

sounds good, I love your quilt!
|
To date I have made 57 Christmas 9 patches 6" finished ( had to purchase a little fabric to make more)
and 24 9 patches made into D9P, picture shown in previous post. Total made 81 I will go check earlier posts to see what our total number is. Thank you for starting this thread:) I am getting at least one quilt top I would not have done without you guys. |
I am about 4 days behind. I hope to catch up this week. I don't have a clue what I'm going to do with them yet. I made mine scrappy so I think I am going to make some totes and table runners. Any other suggestions? Thanks :)
