Guilds are a great resource for any level quilter who desires improving her/his skills. They usually have libraries of the quilt books you'd like to own. There are projects that would challenge the beginner to the pro: classes, speakers, charity quilt work, and group projects. Get involved, volunteer to take a role in the guild, join a small group, or go on a quilt retreat or shop hop. If you're friendly and helpful, they will respond in kind. When I moved to a new state the quilt guild was a place where I found 20+ waiting friends.

I love my Quilting guild. I moved here about 6 yrs ago.I was looking for friends and to learn more about quilting. I was lucky I got both. They are the best and i love them all. We have show and tell, we have classes and parties. Sorry you don't have a good one . Oh we have 30 members.

I never joined a quilt guild but am also a proud charter member of our chapter which has celebrated its 35th anniversary. We've had lots of good times and also some rough spots. After all, we're people. We do a variety of sewing including quilts. My friend and I are co-coordinators of our neighborhood group. If things get a bit too testy, I just stomp on 'em.

I have one word for the quilt guild I belong too: Boring. I have belonged for about 5 years. I have only been to one or two this year. I get off work at 1:00 pm and the quilt guild starts at 7:00 pm, which means I have to get out of the house again. As you probably guessed, I'm a homebody. Anyway, when I do go they of course have the meeting which is just too boring for me. I know alot of it is me. Others seem to enjoy it. It is very friendly and I do not feel out of place. It is just boring.

I have to agree. It is much easier to get to know people if they are closer in age to yourself. I know I felt more comfortable because most of the ladys seemed to be within my age group + or - 10 to 15 years. I'm sure I would not have quite as much in common if they were 70's + or younger than say thier 40's. Let's face it, it could be a generation thing.

I try to go to my quilt group that is held every Wednesday morning. I have not been for a while because of other commitments.

I joined our local guild and loved it and within about 4 months I became the vice president - hoping to be president next year - I am relly enjoying being with other peoople that have the same intrests -
