What gets me about the Quilters Club is how they want you to be a "charter member" even though the club has been going on for about 4 yrs now. It used to be you were only considered a charter member if you joined within the first month or 2. I no longer subscribe to any quilt mag as I also feel they are 80% ads & 20% info and then the info is mostly stuff that has already been printed.

I only give out my fax number on any outside family requirements. I have an answer machine on it and it is where I cannot hear it ring. On the side of the magazine it was probably not them that called. Many vendors sell magazines for them and they are probably not aware.

I signed up on line on the national do not call list. If a telemarketer call and they do, I tell them I am on the list. I listen to their blah, blah, blah & tell them it is against the law to call me when I am on the list so this time please take me off your call list, if it happens again I will turn in the company. They usually hang up on me. Some are nice and say okay, they will take me off the list.
I try to say it all very nicely. I feel they probably get paid only if they make a sell. I envision a single person with children and they are trying to make a living, but my privacy is important to me & I am on the do not call list.

I've had that with a couple of quilting magazines too. It is so annoying! They get into their speach and you can't interrupt them. One side of me says they have to make a living too, but on the other side, if I begin by saying I don't want it, then they need to hang up and go on.

My first thought was that maybe it was a scam. I find it strange that they would call after they send a mailing. Has anyone else had them call? If you had said yes, would he ask for your credit card number? Just a thought.
