I think show hosts have to act dumb and ask obvious questions to let their guests shine. Notice it a lot of cooking and woodworking shows, too.

Her and Sue Hausmann from the old America Quilts show. They both have a lot of knowledge, just something about the way it was presented.

Sue is the one that drives me crazy - I only watched a few times. She is so rude to some of the guests. One gentleman she kept talking over - not just once or twice but for the entire time. I thought the idea of having guests was to let them present their ideas/projects.

I like to watch Quilting Arts even though I would not do 99 percent of the things shown. I did make the messenger bag after it was shown. It does give me ideas sometimes. A different perspective. My major complaint about the show is that they should have only one guest and give them more time to demonstrate their techniques/patterns.

They replaced the good quilt shows with Quilting Arts in my area for awhile.
Did not like it at all.
Now once a week its Fons and Porter, which is much better. Just wish they had more quilting shows.
Used to get El Burns on the rural station but thats gone now.

See, that's a prime example of how different we all are as quilters, yet still have the same overall passion for the art/craft. Personally, I find Eleanor Burns and Carol Doak unwatchable...too sweet and cheery for my taste, feels superficial to me I guess.

I catch it once in a while, but not very often. I have nothing against art quilts, but they are just not my cup of tea.

I think she comes off that way because she is trying to place herself in the position of a newbie quilter who doesn't know anything, so the guest instructor won't miss something important for a new quilter. I kind of felt that way about her, too, but I enjoyed her last year at the Quilt Festival in Houston and realized she wasn't ditzy at all.
