I tell people that 'quilting keeps me sane'! lol, life gets more stressful, I quilt, Life gets calm, I quilt, I miss my kids, I quilt, my kids are around me They make me quilt so they have something to take back to the UK with them! work is awful - I doodle quilt patterns then come home and ..........quilt, weather is bad, I quilt, weather is good, I quilt ............... I could go on but I think you get the pictures!!

I think non-quilters look at the process as just making a pretty bed covering. I believe it is an artistic outlook for many of us us -coordinating colors, patterns and prints in fabric, the design of the layout, deciding what makes it "pop", the design of the quilting. And, the extra joy at the end watching someone enjoy it.

Many non-quilters like to work puzzles. There's an aspect to that in quilting as well.

Until I started making this card trick quilt. ha-ha I found out I hate making this pattern. I have 6 squares done and 6 to go and it's a chore to sit in front of the sewing machine.

I have only been "at it" for a few years, but it is the infinite variety of patterns, colors, fabrics that just makes you want to do one "just like that", or do it in green instead of blue, or just make it your own in one way or another and so your list just goes on and on. You live to start the next one.

Yes I love to quilt whither a pattern or designing it. I get lost with it.

I've only been quilting since June of 2010, but I really love it. I'm always stretching my comfort zone to come up with something I've never done before, although I am occasionally asked to do repeats too. It's always fresh & new! Even the pattern repeats with new fabrics & designs!

I started quilting 15+ years ago. I still love the feel of the fabric, looking at patterns, but it just does not appeal to me lately. I guess it's because we're going thru a lot of changes lately. MOVING! It puts a lot of stress of a person. I don't mean just packing and unpacking. I need to clean up the house, paint, and remodel. Urrgg..... I hope we could just move already!

    Thanks for hearing me out.

After 45 years, you bet quilting inspires me. I can't wait to finish a quilt or to start yet another. Have a pile of ufo's that almost fills my closet. Ok not quite that bad-- grin. Also a pile of finished quilts that I share (along with a friend) through trunk shows for local guilds. I make lots of smaller items, my friend does large quilts. That and we seem to feed off one another. We joke and make it fun.
Have I had dry spells in these years. You bet I have, but I always end up inspired by something I see or read and I am knee deep in fabric again. Keeps me young.
Besides that, most of my friends are quilters, we all share the same need for just one more piece of that pretty floral or that new bright color that just came out.
Also travel with quilting friends, this week will be to Des Moines to the AQS show. Can't wait to see what is there. By sharing the expenses we can all afford to go.
