Think I'll eat some worms!
Susan, why not try machine binding? I stitch mine to the front, then flip them over to the back and go around pinning in the ditch from the front, checking every few pins to make sure I caught enough binding on the back. Then I sew around from the front, removing 2-3 pins at a time and stitching tight in the ditch, not beside it. Then I check the back, and if I missed anything I just fix that area. But usually I catch it all if I pinned well. The entire process takes about half an hour.

I just finished the binding on my 10yo UFO, now a FO (finished object!). Yay. It's a different sort of quilt, because the filler blocks are in the center, and the interest is all around the borders, the opposite of most quilts. Here it is:

Hey Sewbiz,
I get it directly from the Handiquilter website.

Although it wasn’t a sunny warm weekend, it was pleasant enough to be outdoors to get the vegetable garden in. Needless to say, I didn’t get any sewing done this weekend.

I managed to get completely caught up on my Summer Sampler blocks this weekend. No progress on the quilt backs, but it's nice to be on track for one project.

Thanks for a fun weekend! Looking forward to the next one.

Sewbizgirl: i wish I could get my niece to come and stay awhile but she is married and works/lives about 2 hours away. We did talk about taking over an area in one of her uncle and aunt's (my brother/sister-in-law's) outbuildings. My SIL has her machines in the building but doesn't have the time to sew.

Lots of wonderful pictures/conversations again on this VQW. Thanks for hosting every month, Heather.

I had ‘one of those days’. The seam ripper and I had several meetings.

As I was putting things away on my table, I found a complete block for Mystery 19. Now I will have one extra block for my orphan box once I finish the last 2 squares for it. I enlarged the pattern by 3 blocks but obviously I made 4. Lol! I still need to sew the squares and the columns.

My first picture is from the FB Accuquilt Qube BOW. The second one is Judy’s Mystery 19. I did get some sewing done on a charity quilt also.

Since I couldn't finish the FMQ on the Dogs in Sweaters quilt until I get some thread, I decided to start on the my string quilt. I'm using the String Me Along pattern and, oh my goodness, am I having fun. I didn't get up to my sewing room until afternoon, but I got these blocks done today. I'm looking forward to doing more. Its such a good project for me right now. I've overspent the last couple months and need something I can do without buying more fabric. And, it's awesome to get all these scraps used up!

I was just finishing blocks and putting them on the design wall. I just love the way they look!

After making 2 rows of braids for the horse quilt, I decided the Labyrinth quilt is not going to have a braided border. The only braided border I have done was with batiks, so I didn't have the stretching problem these two strips want to have. No way am I doing borders for a queen size quilt. I'm sure these will be fine, but I am handling them gently - the sooner they are inserted in the quilt, the better.

Cash's mom, those blocks are adorable. I will be glad when I don't have gift quilts or prayer quilts to do so I can have that kind of fun.
