Well just spent a long time catching up with all of you this morning. Some BEAUTIFUL things being shown and talked about !! Wow !!
Jeanne - love that pattern...i'm always looking for patterns that lend themselves to "guy" projects - and i think that one is perfect.
Krista --- i looked and looked at your star....are you doing rows that look like diamonds, or actual diamonds?? I have stayed away from diamonds - cuz the one time i tried it was a disaster...but as rows i think i could do it.
I finished up this morning....here are the 2 wedding quilts - finished and ready for the wash. They are approx 52 x 70...The Dresden colors are a bit off in the photo - they are not so bright. Ditto! Although I'm not doing quilty sewing this weekend, I've kept up with the rest of you. After Mass this morning and a quick breakfast of French toast I trotted straight to the sewing room to make one more preemie shirt. Two more to go. With all of this activity going on, it's got my fingers itching to grab the rotary cutter and get something new started.

I've been really busy trying to get my GFG finished. I still have to attach the column on the right but I wanted to lay it out and get a picture because I don't think I'll get it attached by tonight! It's made with 1 1/2" hexies (there are 991 of them!!). I didn't think it would be as big as it is, it's intended for my single bed but it's soooo long! I'm wondering about chopping off the bottom row of flowers and perhaps making some pillowcases out of them so that it all matches nicely. This project actually started out as a pillow case, and then I got going and couldn't stop!

Sunlover, I've been looking at your pattern again, that's quite the challenge to enlarge it. I wonder if you added strips like a log cabin in reds & blacks around that large central square if that would work? It looks like the bear squares are actually a different size than the other little squares around the outside?

Oh, such lovely projects. I love the Christmas trees, tucsonquilter. Looks like we are on the same wavelength making Christmas tree skirts.
Sisty, that quilt is beautiful. How long it is? I like mine to be about 90" long, even for a single. Like someone said, then you can fold the quilt over the pillow. But the pillow sham idea sounds great too.
Penni, your quilts are great. I especially love the disappearing hour glass pattern, and the second pattern it made in the corners.
Nanna, I do the same - try to use every scrap of fabric I can when making a quilt and the backing. However I usually then realize I needed to save some of the fabric for binding. Hopefully you are more organized than I am
I really like what you did with the backing of that quilt.
I have had a minor setback with my tree skirt. Apparently I can't count, and despite careful calculations I only have enough fabric for 1/2 of the background triangles I need to cut. So, a small change in the design will be coming, to use more colours/fabric in those sections. And then I have to decide if I want to make 1 extra section, so that I can overlap the skirt when it's laid around the tree. Or put ties or something on it to keep it closed. Can anyone tell me what is usually done?

I've just measured it and it comes in at 96" long! I may just leave it as it is, after all that leaves more quilt to snuggle under :-) I'm thinking I will hand quilt it so it'll be a while before i'm able to do any snuggling! I shall have to keep an eye out for some nice backing for it while i'm at the festival of quilts this week.
I think this is the start of a love affair with hexies, this is my first and it certainly won't be my last :-)

Well, I had a little difficulty turning on my motivation this morning, but once it was back in gear I finished the Pink.Purple & Butterfly top. Now to try to put together a backing as I am low on all three fabrics. I'm going to reserve the remaining pink for binding. I have 2 pinwheels left so I may try to incorporate them.
