I consider being first-born like being the first pancake I make - a practice piece!!!!

I had all sorts of expectations for my kids - and then it turns out they read a different manual!

Oh my - this topic thrills me! Here I was, thinking I was an awful, sloppy quilter and now I find out I'm normal! Whew!

Love this thread! It's been brought back to the top at least twice: it's made many, many newbies feel they are not alone.

I think the quilt police were at my door last Thursday when I pounded the "bumps" from the bottom corners of four flying geese blocks FLAT! I'd ripped out the decorative stitch pattern gone catawompus every time when it reached those dang bumps at least six times and was getting more and more concerned with the growing number of holes. Woke up Thursday morning and knew what to do: a ball-peen hammer and a four-sided bolt worked wonders.

Now I also know how to solve the hump-in-the-middle of pinwheels problem!

As for the quilt police, I think my dogs ate them .........

Probably everything, but I'd never know it. I don't answer the door to strangers. I'd assume they were whatever you call door-to-door spammers

I sew with whatever color of thread I have, and I don't care about the brand. I only change needles when they break.

I starch my fabric so stiff it could be used as paper sometimes...don't like no floppy fabric, he he he but I don't prewash ever.

I use a glue stick when I paper piece to hold pieces together so they don't slide around.

My cats inspect every piece of fabric that comes or goes, whether I want them too or not.

My cat steals my sewing chair and then I have to argue with her to get it back...sometimes I win.

I sew over pins
I sometimes make my border strips like binding- sew them together then sew on side's border then whack it off and do the opposite - instead of measuring 3 times and averaging..you know..not on important stuff just my own...mostly ha!

I thought I was doing pretty good work until I entered 15 Items in the fair. I did get ribbons on all items. Some Blue and some red and some white. I read the comments on the back of some of the cards and said to myself." What is she talking about"
