What do you do that's "against the rules"?

I'm just starting to learn to quilt and I like some of the rules, like using the iron (not one of my favorite things), but when it comes to putting fabrics together and playing with the machine I do whatever I want. There's nothing like coloring outside the lines and creating something diferent.

I machine-bind...or at least I plan to. I don't pre-wash.

Well, right now I am trying an experiment with a quilt I'm working on... I am pressing the seams open instead of toward the dark. I read that idea somewhere on this board. It just comes more naturally to me because I have been a garment sewer since I was 9 years old. I'll let you know how it turns out (LOL).

Real quilters have no rules period IMHO.
Quilting has been around for centuries and there were no rules back then and there should be none now.
Personally I live to annoy the quilt police and do my own thing.
An art form comes about when someone experiments and creates something they like and that is what quilting is about as far as I am concerned.
