I started sewing in Jr. High 7th grade I think the classroom machines were singers, this was the early 70's knee pedals. I know mom's was a singer probably 60's vintage. when I was older I had an older singer model then I got a bernette-720 now its a baby lock-grace

I learned to sew on my moms Singer and an old treadle in 4H . That was when I was in grade school. Then I got the dreaded. New Home that never worked. But,all those machines gave me the base for sewing so I am greatful for them.

My first sewing machine was a White which was given to me by my Aunt Sis (real name Elsie). I made many clothes for myself and my boys when they were little. Now most of the time I quilt and don't make any clothes for myself. :-D

Mine was a Singer featherweight that I got 40 years ago when I was 16. My Mom paid $49.00 for it and I still have it. That was the machine that I always used until 3 years ago when I got my Bernina.

I had just graduated high school. My home ec teacher told me I would never be able to sew. So I showed her and went out and bought the best singer sewing machine I could find. I was 18 and it was in 1966.

I was one of those unstoppable children that give parents premature gray hair.. I wanted to sew so bad.. and my DM was afraid if she didn't teach me I would get up there and do it myself when she was away.. (she was right, that's exactly what I would have done!) She had a Pfaff with a knee control.. I had to sit up on books to be up high enough to sew.. I was about 5.. was it "real" sewing? I don't know, but I thought it was! I've sewn nearly everyday of my life since that time. The first machine I owned my self was a Singer.. which I sold and bought a Bernina 830.. I still have that machine, plus a beautiful new Phaff Creative Vision.. I also have a bunch of other machines, old vintage machines. Like others, I love each one of these machines... most are as old as I am, but they are still working perfectly.. sort of like me.. perhaps I'm not perfect anymore, but boy can I work!
