Here in Michigan we did have some clouds during the eclipse, but that made it a little easier to see a bit of the eclipse. We were kinda having a dusk and the birds stopped flying and chirping. Soon after the birds quieted the frogs and crickets began to sing.
Hope someone got to see the eclipse in action.

No eclipse for me. I was in the 100% area, but Mother Nature decided to have some showers 2-3 hours prior and 15 minutes afterwards we had 2-3 hours of thunderstorms. So we were clouded over. Saw some pretty clouds and lightening. The weather wasn't forecasted until after 3pm. Areas 15-30 miles south got to see a little of the event. Oh well 7 more years for another chance. My dogs were more upset with the thunderstorms verses the eclipes.

Well darn that is too bad.

West Michigan reporting in on the Eclipse. We had large fluffy clouds that kept moving over, but it did get rather gloomy. Not dark or gloomy like before a rain or on a run of the mill cloudy day. Quite different. I stepped out of my office into an open area of campus with a group of dietetics student interns. Their first day on campus and what do we do distract them from their orientation week with an eclipse. One student had the glasses, and the rest of us used the viewing boxes The larger boxes were really quite effective. I tried the kitchen colander and it was OK but the boxes were better. The glasses best of all but what a shortage of glasses! I am thinking of the Tickle Me Elmo and Cabbage Patch Doll shortage. Kind of like that. A nice little taste of what it could be like if we had been in the "total" path.
I did watch a lot of live stream on my computer. I learned more about sky, eclipses and how very dark and cold it gets when our sun disappears for only 2 or 3 minutes. Makes me thankful for that sun. Now I understand just a bit about how frightening it must have been when the volcanoes spewed all the ash in the air and it blocked so much of the sun light. How cold it must have gotten. Happy Eclipse day all!

I saw 98% totality where I was today. Administrator at work had purchased several pairs of eclipse glasses and I was able to see it out the window. It did not get as dark as it was in the 100% area, but the street lights turned on for a period of time. Traffic leaving the 100% area was terrible, even 6 hours after the event. Glad I missed all of that...

North Eastern Oklahoma had about 75% eclipse on the eastern side, love my aviator sunglasses with UV & Infrared blocked! It was very strange during the apex for our area, the very air looked light blue, verified it with our resident artist! Far better than the greenish sky before a tornado! We used glasses, box & computer, neighbors probably think we're nuts. It was fun seeing His Majesty sending us cool things to view!!!
