NO, the deadline will be just fine for me I was just feeling so sassy I was almost done. Well. Karma, right?

MaryMo, you are NOT alone. Mercy. I have a whole pile of 3 patches where the center square was already off. Rather then taking the time to try and make them correct, I moved on to the next set. I figure I can either redo these at my leisure, or make them into something else.

Honchey, I think that was my problem, too. I was trying to use all my candies from the swap and found many many many that were not 2.5" square. I am still using them. BUT.....what I'm doing to make sure I don't have to fudge the seam is to put it next to my 2.5" square of white that "I" cut and am confident of. If it is too big, push outwards, and if too small, snuggle in. (does that make sense) I hate the idea of not being able to use these, as many are not something I would normally use in anything other than a scrappy block pattern like this one.

On another note, I have found, if I take the time to make sure my center is 2" finished in both directions, my blocks need very little squaring, if any at all. But believe me, I have plenty of them that do. Did. Whatever!

I made some blocks last night and wasn't crazy about the color combinations. But after I got a few blocks made and put them next to each other, I started getting excited about how good this will look for a scrappy Irish Chain.

Even though I feel like I'm starting over again, I'm getting excited!

Yes, that makes perfect sense. I do that too. I have a piece I know is right as my "constant", and fit the other one to it, as needed. Line up you seam line for the "constant".

Here is another pattern for our scrappy and white blocks that I think is lovely. It's called "Blades of Color".

https://static1.squarespace.com/stat...s+of+Color.pdf

Some additional blocks would have to be made with more white in them, but I thought you'd like to see this pretty quilt that you could use your blocks in.

Forgot to mention: The pattern is written for starting with 2" squares, rather than our 2.5" ones, so it would have to be adapted just a bit.

So how is everyone doing making their blocks? Did I make the deadline too short? Do we need an extra week, perhaps? Let me know. I can push it back if people feel they don’t have enough time. Tell me soon if we need to change it, (not at the last minute, please.)
Yes, I could use the extra week! So far I have totally missed three days of sewing and it has really hurt. I feel bad that I have to request extra time and I'm sure that I am not the only one that is struggling. Or am I the only one?

Oh Gosh, I don't mind if anyone needs the extra time. Honest!

And the only reason I am pushing panic is I am trying to get a charity quilt done for someone in my home town. He was licked by a dog (or several at a party) and contracted a bacterial infection. They've had to remove his nose, both arms and both legs.

They're having a motorcycle ride/benefit for him and I am making a quilt to donate as a raffle item. I don't know the man personally, but my son said he went to school with his son. So.....it's what we do, right?

Since it is a motorcycle benefit, I'm making this quilt for them (hence me being pressed for time....but I'll get'r done!) The benefit is Oct. 6th.

I have to finish the backing, the finish work on the appliqued squares (still need to finish the inside of those) and then quilt it. Not bad. I thought the chevron looked like tire tracks. LOL

That “Blades of Color” quilt that SewBizGirl suggested is absolutely beautiful - another possibility to think about. It’s okay with me if the deadline is extended - anything to cause less stress!

Oh my gosh!!! Nose, both arms and both legs removed from getting licked by dogs? I can't believe it!! That poor man! I kiss my dog all the time! And he kisses back. Your quilt is going to be amazing, Red, and I'm sure popular with Bikers. Hope it raffles for a lot of money.

As for the deadline, let's go ahead and extend it one week. It just dawned on my last night that I may have not left enough time between the sign up closing and the due date. So...

New due date is Oct. 17.

We will stick with that date.

Great on the date extension. I can certainly use the extra week. Too many commitments. Happy sewing everyone.
