Hi, I just had my carpet replaced in my sewing room with laminate, I LOVE IT! I bought my laminate at Menard's not expensive at all it is Tacket brand it is real nice and always looks clean, use white vinager and warm water to damp mop it off with but that is not very often us a swiffer to clean up threads and dust bunnies, I have more expensive laminate flooring by wilson Art and don't like it as well as I do this brand my room is 8x10 the pad and flooring on sale cost me less than $80.00 and I paid about $100.00 to a man to install it. I have Pergo (wood-look laminate) in my sewing room, and I love it! I had originally wanted wood to match what's in the rest of the house. But after dragging pins over it with my rolling chair, dropping scissors on it (pointed end down!), and not seeing even a scratch, it was really the best possible decision for that room. Also, it's quite comfortable to sit/stand on. The kind we bought had the padding/underlayment already attached.

    Good luck with your decision!

Oh, and for what it's worth, I had engineered wood in my old sewing room, and I hated it. It scratched easily (can't be refinished), and where my rolling chair was, the finish broke down. :(

I have laminate in all the rooms in my house except the 10 x 20 entryway and that has ceramic tile. I like both of them. I sew in the entryway and the tile is kind of hard on the feet and legs when standing cutting fabric and pressing, but sure cleans up good.

My whole house is laminate, it was that way when I bought it. I probably wouldn't have chosen it but I have to say its very nice and gets a lot of wear with rolling chairs and doggy feet and doesn't have a mark on it.

Ours is Wilsonart, they previous owners left the paperwork for it.

I'm also considering putting in some kind of flooring in my studio. I have bare (not even painted/stained) concrete that was once a carport. Now that we're adding on, I've decided that we'd put flooring in the entire room. I have decided on this much: I want laminate flooring in a bright color with a tile-like grid. This way when I want to square up a quilt, I'll use the grid on the floor. I do that in the living room now and it works like a charm. I even count the squares on the floor for measuring since I know that my squares are exactly 12 inches. Definitely a recommendation to go with a grid floor.

I Love mine, it looks like real wood , I bought the good under pad it is made of a thick foam it absorbs noise and help keep it from being noisy when it is walked on, I have no squeeks or any noisy spots, I use my room a lot I have a rolling chair that I move around in a lot and the floor still looks good, the brand is Tackett and I purchased it at Menard's in MI, have a good night
