We replaced all our carpeting except the living room with laminate. We would have changed that also, but there is a pool table in that room. It is the best floor decision we have ever made. Since we also have a dog & a cat, it is easier to keep clean & has helped tremendously with allergies. My sewing room is very easy to clean & I dust mop daily. The only downside is that it echos. So be careful if the room is upstairs. Ours is Pergo.

My room is on our lower level with Armstrong stratomax on the floor which has a built in vapor barrier. I had carpet before and this is much better to move a chair around on and clean up threads. As already stated, some less expensive wood look brands have a noise to them when walked on-trial at the store. How the floor is placed could make a difference too-will it be a floating floor or attached to floor boards? Have fun choosing.

How do you clean your floors? Do you sweep or vac? Can you use swiffer wet jet? I know the laminent does not like water. Can you assist me. Thnanks

I went to Lowe's today and picked out the Pergo. Hope to have installed in less than a month. Thanks everyone for your input. What a great bunch of friends. Emily

This flooring is absolutely beautiful. I love the laminate, but concerned about what the rolling chair will do to the laminate. Will the chair rollers scar the laminate? I used a commercial very low pile carpet so the chair would roll easy. It is easily cleaned with swifter. I do so much love the laminate though.

I changed a son's room into my sewing room last year. We opted for a laminate flooring with the backing attached. We got it at Sam's Club, as I loved the cherry wood color they had.

My husband and I installed it! It went down very easily, and looks wonderful.

I use a Shark cordless stick type vacuum. It picks up all the stray thread and fabrics snips very easily. I have ceramic tile floors in my entry, dining room, kitchen and halls, and the vac makes a quick job on the tile as well as the laminate.

I did purchase rubber wheels for the chair rollers. They have them at stationery stores, and since my chair is from Ikea, they had the rubber wheels at their store also.

when I put on my sewing addition, my builder recommended I use Pergo. Because of the office chairs I have , the builder said I should only use a professional grade laminate. no scratching, no marking no noise. Love it!
