maybe a border of the darker blue like in the heart. Then a tonal wider border of one of the colors in one of the other blocks.

I didn't read all the comments, but kept scrolling back and forth between your two pictures. If you really need a border to make the quilt bigger, I would vote for the first picture. However, have you considered not having an outer border? Of course, my opinion is worth what you have paid for it ... lol

You have made a beautiful quilt and no matter what you do with or without the final border it will still be a beautiful quilt.

Love your scrappy quilt top! What do you think about using your blue border material along with a white on white fabric made into a straight line of flying geese... just let them fly all around the quilt for the border? Or maybe even windmills? and a possiblitiy of using prairie points for the outside edges? I just think borders shouldn't be too simple for a lovely scrappy quilt..

It's already exciting, so just keep going til the whole quilt sings! In my humble opinion...

I have to agree with Lori and Debra, that print doesn't do the quilt justice. I would recommend you find something else.
