Thanks for the great ideas. I did not measure as I went. I just sewed the sashing on and then cut it off at the end. Oops! I will take off some of the sashing and either measure and then put back on or add cornerstones. I like the idea of puffy batting too.
i saw this quilt on the board here and just used my squares.

Finally managed to complete my first UFO for 2014. This is a quilt my husband wanted me to make for him. He actually sat down with a stack of magazines and picked the pattern himself. Then he went through my batik stash and picked out the fabric for it. He was so anxious to use it that I didn't get a photo until after it was washed. Now on to the next quilt on my list......1 down, 11 more to go!

Rita, that's a fantastic quilt. I can see why the DH was anxious to have it finished. Love the circle quilting.

Rita, Your DH has a great eye for fabric selection! Maybe soon you can have him cutting and sewing up his own quilts!!

Rita - the quilt you made for DH after his choice of pattern and fabric is great. You are fortunate to have such a neat guy! (I have one, too) Look forward to seeing more of what you do. Ladies, this is my year for doing UFO's, too but FIRST, I have to get quilt done for granddaughter who graduates in May and I have just barely begun it so when it is done...then it will be on to UFO's. I have several tops that just need borders, batting and quilting. If I don't buy any fabric this year, I can use money to pay LA quilter for a t least a couple of them...fingers crossed!

Finally finished
Two quilts finished in Dec. Both had been laying around for many years. I am so glad to have them done. the one Under Ground Rail Road (Quilt In a Day) was probably started 10 years ago. My daughter is thrilled to finally have her quilt. The paisley one I started probably about 7 years ago. I made the top in no time but due to size, 10 ftx10 ft, never got to quilting it. I gifted it to DH for Christmas. All where quilted free style by me.

Miss Rita-what a great quilt! Must have been so fun to cooperate with your husband on this treasure.
Anna-two great finishes! And big ones, too! Keep going back to the second one..can't take my eyes off of it!
