I finished quilting a quilt and wanted to put blue binding on. Alas, I have no blue and hubby suggested a trip to the LQS. I decided to take a trip to the Mad Stash and found red. Not what I originally had in mind but it will work.

Good for you Madquilter!

tkhooper: Most of my recent stash increase comes from people giving me pieces of material that they won't use because of size. Lol!

I have a question. Is accepting a friends relatives scraps within the realm of "ok" for the Moratorium. I just got a trash bag of fabric. I haven't even gone through it to see if it is cotton or not.
I think you are the victim here! I once arrived at home to see 3 grocery bags of fabric abandoned at my door. Since you didn't seek it out, you are in the clear. Also, I would not feel bad at all donating any unsuitable pieces to your local thrift shop.
I guess it's better than the usual drop and run that occurs in our neighborhood this time of year: a bag of zucchini the size of baseball bats...

That's good to know. There was no quilting fabric in it. But lots of doll fabric.

I was told I didn't have enough fabric for my crazy quilt so I went to joann's and found the pretties satin with swirls and rhinestones. and of course some other fabric too. Then I bought 5 simplicity patterns for doll clothes. My barbie is going to be one happy doll when I figure this all out.

Well that's all specialty fabric. Of course you couldn't be expected to have it all.

Sounds like everyone is doing a good job on shopping the stash first. I'm rather proud of myself as I'm making a baby quilt in blue and was struggling with finding some fabric from stash. Nothing seemed babyish enough. Was determined not to buy any fabric for this (does anyone else feel like that sometimes?). Have plenty of fabric something should work.

I had a piece I kept coming back to but had some purple in with the blue. It's a batik. Then I thought I could just not use the parts that were a little too purple. The piece should be big enough to do this as it's going to be a 40 x 40 quilt. And this seems to be working out fine.
