Disappearing 9 patch. You make a 9 patch, then cut it up and reassemble. There are many different varieties.

Thanks for the explanation of D9P, PaperPrincess

Okay everyone, I don't count this as a fall, but a necessary detour... I've tried to design my own Mariner Star patterns for a while now, but they always came out wonky, so I ordered some patterns printed on interfacing from QuiltSmart. I used these before, years ago, and now could only find them online. I have 4 promised projects that require the stars, so I am waiting anxiously for the patterns to arrive.

Well, I did take a little tumble today. I am making a rail fence for donation (not sure to what charity) and found out our guild is making quilts for our regional Veteran's hospital. This one is bright and has geometric designs on it, so I bought a fat quarter bundle (2 yards) to enlarge it to twin size. Just give me a hand up, please.

All2pieces, I don't count that as a fall either. Anything that helps us move forward (after all, who wants to follow a wonky compass?) is a good thing.

For that same reason, I think you're OK too Linda. You are using the purchase on an ongoing project and not to add to stash.

You know that 50% off the entire store sale that I mentioned? My girlfriend called me today & talked me into going. She's a lawyer, so she can be very persuasive. She also is almost my only paying long arm customer and owed me for 2 quilts, so my dollar outlay was zero. My stash is up 6 yards, however. To make matters worse, they sale is extended until February 11. I live less than 5 miles away...

PaperPrincess: I wouldn't do well living that close to a fabric store! Lol! Good luck with keeping the amount of purchases at zero or, at least, small.

2 more fleece blankets finished=6 more yards used! In 2 weeks, I will be able to give them to a group for distribution. I have 10-15 yards of fleece to still use for this project. If I don't get them finished, the fleece will still be donated and out of my house!

But you can do it, we know you can.

Oh I love seeing the awesome work you all have done and the inspiration for more. Just lovely. Such kindness is offered here!!! I spent a couple of hours at Joanne's yesterday. My husband dropped me off at the store while he went to buy some fish tying products. When he picked me up I didn't have a single bag in hand. Nothing. I kept thinking about what I had at home that I really could use and might even like better. I felt somewhat free! What a fun experience!
